Hi,
I live in a cold climate, New Hampshire. My ladies are about 17 weeks old so I am going to ad nest boxes to my coop. I see some that hang on the outside of the coop while others are completly inside. Will I have a better chance of getting eggs in the winter if the nest box is completly...
I am suprised at how hard it is to find plans for a chicken coop. I have found many great pictures here and on other sites but I am looking for step by step plans with a cut list. I want to build a coop about 8 x 8. Does anyone know where I could find any free plans?
Thank You
Hi,
I have 16 chicks coming from Ideal next week, 8 Barred Rocks and 8 New Hampshire Reds. My brooder is 3 feet by 5 feet. It seems a little big. I was thinking about using a divider to reduce the size, then remove it as they grow. How much room do they need to begin with?

Hi,
I just placed an order with Ideal that will ship on March 8th. They are recommending that I purchase "Grogel Plus-B". What is it? Is it a good idea?

Thank You,
John

I notice that most people are ordering several different breeds. I had planned to order all barred rocks. The plan is to raise future broods without having to order more birds.
Is there a reason for ordering...
Hi,
I am so glad I found this forum I have so many questions.
My family is on a quest to be more self-reliant. Raising a flock of chickens is one part of our plan. We live on 5 acres New Hampshire. I have a shed that I am converting into a coop. I have an unheated (insulated) garage that I...
