Hey guys, so I'm thinking in Spring I'm going to get two chicks. My question is, with two chicks I know there's a larger chance of having one or both die on me, so I'm wondering what I can do to help insure their survival? Thanks!
hey guys, so I'm going to be getting chicks this march, and I need some help. I'm only getting three chicks because I don't want a ton of chickens. Their brooder is in the barn and is raised. I'm thinking to insulate them I will have their bedding in a way to keep the nice and close, have a...
I have had predators before, it's dark now so I'll post pictures later. My dad is a concrete mason so that'll probably be the easiest route for me to go. The floor is a fairly flat dirt floor.
A few years ago we had something (I think a weasel) take out all but 5 of our 30 chickens (they were...
Hey guys, so I'm planning on adding a concrete floor to the coop to keep predators from digging in. It's about 14 and a half feet long, and about seven feet eight inches wide. How did you guys do your floors? About how much did it cost?

Hey guys, so I finished out the measurements for my run, the totally amount of wire I need is 24 yards. What can I use that's not too expensive but will also keep them safe?
Hey guys! I'd love to see some pictures of your Speckled Sussex Chickens (and or Chicks)! I've always loved the breed and I finally get to get one in March! I will definitely post mine once I get him/her! Anyway, this thread is just somewhere where you can post pictures of them, tell stories of...
The roost has been completed! I was going to replace the cheapy door (it broke last year) with a nicer one, but as it turns out we didn't have an extra door like I thought we did, so I have to wait to buy one. So far though it looks like it'll be ready by the time I get my chicks! (If not it...
Can anybody direct me to a sticky about caring for turkeys? I saw one about raising them but none about caring for them. If not then I have a few questions.
1. Can they be kept with chickens?
2. How much space do they need in a coop, run, roost, etc.
3. Do they need a special feed
4. What kinds...
Thank you for the answers! (For the wintering one, we would be adding windows to our barn). I don't think I'll be getting peafowl anytime soon then, I don't have the means as of right now to keep them separate from chickens, but at least now I know the answers to my questions if I ever do get...
I just finished getting the whole area cleaned out! I didn't see, hear, or smell a single mouse and my best mousing cats weren't acting drivey at all so I think it's all good in there! All I have to do now is pour concrete, do the run and other wire!
Ok, I'll probably do a Brinsea then. Thanks for the help! I finished cleaning out the old chicken area so now all I have to do is build a run and pour some concrete in the area.
