Well I want to post some pictures of the coop just to see what people think.
The roost just built yesterday.
The roost is about 3 inches wide. Two poles for about 20 chickens. Droppings fall below in a small compost area.

Since there is no electricity...
Hello there,
I sell eggs to suppliers of local farmers markets. Recently I was asked if I had a rooster fertilizing my eggs. I stated yes, since roosters offer great protection in warning of dangers (since my hens are completely free range). Now, I know that you can eat fertilized eggs and...

I just purchased 50 "rainbow layer assortment" from McMurray Hatchery. I was wondering if anyone else has purchased this same rainbow layer assortment. Do the hens lay well? I need these hens to produce since I run a small egg business.
My other option, if I get bad reviews about the first...
wow you guys should consider putting more thought into the whole idea of letting the chickens be self-sustainable. I have about 70 chickens and sell every single egg I get from them. 70*250 (eggs per year) divided by 12 equals 1458 dozen which each are sold at $3.50 which has a yearly profit...

so when I go to check on the chickens to make sure they are in their coop, and they do the stretch and fluff their feathers exercise,
some white stuff fluffs out of their feathers. Its almost like dust but white matter.
I dont know if this is some kind of mite or if it is normal.
anyone know?

I have the chickens roost over a compost area that is fenced off (it was not complete in the pictures). maybe I could post new pics of it tom.
I wouldnt really mess with nature. Sometimes trying to help them kills them most the time in my experience...
Patience?
but hopefully more opionions. I dont want you to just take my word if somone else has had more success...
She also may have over ate. Sometimes baby chicks do it. Try massaging her crop downward. It will help the food to digest. Sounds crazy but Id give it a shot.
I have no idea on a condition. Sometimes nature just has strange way of going about things. Maybe it is how her body is reacting to begin laying eggs, since she hasnt laid yet.
