Thinking of making my roost with 2x4's. That will give my girls a flat for their feet. Is there anything wrong with doing so? It will be 3 or 4 levels high. About 4' tall for the highest level and lowest being around a foot off the floor.
It's going really good! Taking my time, I've got about 30 hours in it so far. Doing all the small detailed things now. All we lack now are window covers, people door, and the door for the nesting boxes. Put thelinoleum floor in yesterday. Here's a few pics:
Here's our 2 eggs we got tonight. One in the box and one in the middle of the run. Will the chicken that laid it in the run lay in the box or will she keeo laying in the run? And they are pretty big and hard shells also!
Install went well, was a lot of fun building it. Put a toilet valve system in my bucket so there's always water. Ran hose down to my nipple pipe and fastened it to the run. We are putting our chicks out in the coop and run for the first time this evening. I will also out the regular water feeder...
Our chicks are around 6-7 weeks, looks like they have most of their feathers. We planned on putting them outside this Friday and the weather says it will be around 35 degrees both nights for the low but 70 during the day. Will they be fine as long as they go in the coop at night? Should I close...
Howdy!! We are new to having chickens. We have 6 red pullet chicks and their about 4 weeks old. Built the coop and run and got them put out yesterday. We put them in it for about 2 hours yesterday and they love it.!! We will be putting them out there in about 2 more weeks. Love the website.
