I just recently moved and had to load up my chickens and move them. They have stopped laying I guess because the stress of the move. How long before I can expect them to start laying again?
I was wondering if anyone can give me some pointers for goose egg hatch. I have 10 eggs, in a styrofoam incubator. There is development. I have the temperature at 100 degrees and the humidity at 75. Is that right?
I have 2 two month old chicks and I was wondering if it would be okay to introduce them into the flock yet? They've been in a rabbit cage in the coop, so the others have seen them.
I am looking for a few small incubators for classroom projects. If anyone has some for cheap I will buy them, but donations would be greatly appreciated.
The answer is YES!!! I forget who asked the question, but it was a while ago. no one really knew the answer, well I just had one go broody about 4 days ago. What a pain she is. So that now makes 7 broodies. I have 2 in a cage to get them to lay again, and the rest are sitting on eggs. 2 months...
So I have 5 game hens that I keep just because they go broody ALL THE TIME, and lets face it, I would much rather have a hen do it then me. So I have 1 girl that just hatched 2 babies, and another girl on 5 silkie eggs. I have been getting not alot of game eggs though, actually none in the past...
I just got my wild turkeys from Mcmurray. This is my first time ever having turkeys and I just wanted to know if there was anything special that I should know about them. Should I care for them like I would my chicks, or do they need something special. Any input or tricks would be greatly...
One of my girls FINALLY went broody, so I more than happily stuck 10 of my silkie eggs under her. But everyday that I check on her someone has laid another egg in her nest, which she gratefully accepts into the clutch. I have nowhere else really to put her. I have a couple of incubators, so even...
I went out to feed , and opened my babies pen (an old rabbit cage) and there were 4 dead babies in there. I paniced and looked around wondering what in the heck happened....they were perfectly fine last night. And there it was staring back at me, THE BIGGEST RAT SNAKE EVER!!! In the pen. I got...
Hi everybody! I've been hatching chicken eggs for some time now and have gotten really good at it. BUT, my friend just gave me 3 goose eggs, and I threw them in my bator. I have never incubated goose eggs before, and I know they are different than chickens. 1 never developed, but 2 are...
I have three Cornish X, 2 males and one female. They are GREAT. I got them Feb 2 as babies from McMurray Hatchery. They are thriving and actually very pretty birds. My question is, is it possible for them to breed? I was just wondering.
I have Barred Rock, Black Rock, and some Silkie babies for sale. All babes $5 each. I also have a wonderful 3 month old silkie roo that will be a GREAT breeder in a couple short months. He is $10.
I hope it is. My husband went to feed for me this morning, and he said that one of my black rock girls was laying in the nest and I went later tonight and she was still there. AND she tries to peck you if you touch her?
I came home from work and look what I found!!! Only nine are out but 12 more eggs have pips!!! I'm so excited I can barely stand it.
I still have 7 more eggs that aren't doing anything, but it's only day 20, so we shall see.
Sorry they are kind of crappy pictures, but it's through the glass.
I had a baby hatch last night sometime, and I'm assuming the yolk wasn't all the way absorbed because there is yellow liquid yolk all over the bottom of my incubator, and the baby is dragging what looks to be a membrane or something that the yolk was in. It is red like blood, but solid. I'll try...
I went out to feed this morning, and found one of my Ameracaunas (who just started laying by the way) dead in a nest box. There was an egg smooshed to her butt, so the first thing that comes to my mind is that she was egg bound, or something happened while she was laying. I'm sorry, but I am...
