I have 2 black Silkies and 2 white Silkies in with a blue roo. I am going to isolate each of the silkies and try to figure out which one is laying the oddball eggs. I am going to set a batch of the blue eggs and see what happens! It will be interesting to see what the chicks...
I am asking if ANYONE out there has ever had a Purebred, NON-Ameracauna/EE birds spontaneously lay blue/green eggs.
THAT is the question I want answered, please.
I know it would be rarer than rare, and if I wasn't seeing it with my own eyes, I wouldn't believe it either...

Where along the Chesapeake are you located?
Why didn't I know about all of these wonderful chicken people when I lived out there???? (southern edge of Lexington Park)
(Of course, at that point I'd never heard about backyard chickens!)

So, now I have gotten 4 blue/green eggs in the past 6 days in the Silkie pen (along with the more expected pale brownish cream colored eggs).
I am going to gather a few more and hatch them. I am also going to separate each of the 5 silikes into individual cages to try and narrow down who is...
Ummmmmmmm......
Where the heck did the auction go? I had bid on the birds, they had several days to go on their auction, and when I logged in this morning the auction was GONE.
Answer??
Thanks!
Katie
No, not chain link, the small wire with 1" x 1" holes. These are the Giant individual kennels, like you'd use for New Foundland/Great Dane sized dogs. I have 4 of them set up in the pole barn, each with 4-6 bantam birds. (From back when I did Rescue work)
And, all 5 of my Silkies came from a...
OMG! Thank you! I feel a little less crazy now!
Since everyone is in separate XL Dog kennels right now, complete with 4 walls top and bottom of 1" x 1" square metal, I knew no one had "gotten in", besides which, I don't even OWN any blue/green eggers!
Actually, had my Ameracaunas laid an...
When I was gathering eggs last night, I got to my Silkie pen and had 3 pale brown eggs, and a GREEN egg. Not greenish brown, GREEN.
I do not own a single Ameracauna hen.
The ONLY birds in that pen are Silkies, and there is no way anything else could have gotten in there.
Any...

I don't know how to resize the pics the owner sent me.
That is a white in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th pics; and a blue in the 4th pic to show color differential.
I don't know anything more about the birds, I simply posted the pics the owner sent me off-list, since they were having...

I love both of those roos! I can see where each would be a strength, depending on the hens you breed them to.... If that dark boy really is a blue, I want some eggs when your bator is overflowing!!! LOLOLOL!!!
Katie
hmmmmm...... catching up on this thread a bit..... We are a CHATTY bunch, and in so many places!! LOLOLOL! Anyhoo, since Nancy is probably even farther behind than I am, I'm gonna chime in on that lemon/buff/diluted girl....
Nancy has several of her chicks that are feathering out with that...
Well, some pics of the birds would help to decide the issue for me!
Having 2 brand new (to BYC) people say they are beautiful is nice, but without photos I am apt to be a bit cautious, especially when that much money is on the line. I would want to see pics of the birds, including combs...
Yes, I would like to see pics too! Kind of hard to decide to spend that kind of money of birds you can't see. Especially since you are new to BYC and haven't established your flock's reputation yet.... I think the idea of a Lavender Polish is fabulous, and I would really love to see it...
