Hello Guys
Im new to the D'anver breed.
My mum bought two Cuckoo D'anver hens last year and loved them so much she wanted more.
One died so I volunteered one of my bantams (not a D'anver) for her to put some D'anver eggs under as the hens were really expensive to buy. She is not allowed a...
All was going well yest. Baby was out of the egg but it has gone down hill. Its breathing has become laboured and crackily. Any come across this before and what do I do to help??
Hello Guys
I started with 20 eggs from our trio of West of Englands in our incubator.
Out of the 20 only 3 have made it to day 27!!! No wonder it is a rare breed if they don't hatch!
They were staggered going into the incubator. My first one hatched on day 34. However she has straddle legs...
Out of a lot of eggs i could only get one egg to hatch, which it did on today on day 34!
It did not loose enough weight in the egg, which i think delayed hatching.
One of its eyes looks like the inner lid has become dried. We have genly dropped some warm water on it to try to help. Any one...
Day 32. Im up early to have a look at my eggs. One has internally pipped!
:yesss:
I dont think he has been pipped for long. He still has massive veins inside.
Now its just a waiting game. I will keep an eye on him.
The book says dont change the humidity until he externally pips. Is that right?
Hiya guys. Well im on day 31 and only one appears to be trying to internally pip.
It has been at it since yesturday.
There are also one or two that still have vein evident but no real progress.
Im loathed to give up on them yet.
What do you think? They are pretty large eggs and my other...
Lol. I now know that some of them are fertile.
Please oh lord do not strike me down as i was saving those eggs from being eaten. So really i was rescuing them.
Hey like my thinking?
Anyone else have a confession to make about poultry?!
I cannot be the only sinner on here
Well my bees are not coming out of their hives today.
Raining at the moment and cold with it too. Im lying in bed trying to keep warm!
Our hives in the garden are queen right so far. They were bringing in pollen last week
and it was warm enough for us to have a sneeky peek inside. We have not...
Yes i went from 5min to 10 and they are now on 15mins cooling.
Im following petes guide and chris ashtons guide.
Is it okay to leave them cooling for 20mins? I was always afraid of leaving them out any longer as our house is quite cold as it is.
Thanks. I did try to find info about it but could not find anything definate.
It doesnt help my laptop is dead and i have to use my phone. Thanks for the advice.
I will attempt to contact them, if my phone will play ball.
Now i just have to do some research on which sex is what.
I do vaguely...
:D cookoo marans.
I could not resist.they were calling to me.
Cost me £2 for 12. When i got home my hubby asked me what i was going to do with them as we already have maxed out how many we can keep in one house.
I blagged it and said we would sell them-not likely!.
Slick or what.;)
Im eyeing up...
I have a confession to make.
Have you ever seen somebodies chickens in their garden and
wanted them so you have bought some eggs for eating and put in the incubator?:hide
Im a bad bad person...
I have three batches of west of englands in the incubators.

the 7 are not quite there yet and their have not lost the correct weight yet.
I have to admit i have only put water in the incubator twice so far. Is...
Hello
I was wondering if you can help.i have eggs hopefully hatching at the beginning of next week but according to my calculations they need to loose a lot more weight.
I already take them out of the incubator for 15mins once a day. Should i be thinking of taking them out for twice a day to...
