Quail, chickens, turkeys etc will call, crow or gobble at all hours. Its not just for breakfast anymore! Not all of them do this but i had some bantam roosters that crowed 24/7. They are now in the freezer. My cotties do the same but are much quieter and hence still living their happy lives in...

Just put my chicks outdoors in the pen with some adults. The chicks are feathered up and the weather is decent. All has been fine for about a week and today i find 3 dead. Any ideas...i only have one male and have seen no aggessive behavior, actually he pretty much ignores them so i dont think...

2 late hatchers overnight. That puts me at 8 so far and over 50%. Im pretty happy with that :-)

At present I'm at 6 of 15. So like 40% so far but I'm hoping for some late hatchers today!

Ive got 2 eggs that have holes pecked thru and i can see the beaks moving around but they have been that way for about 8 hrs now. At what point do you go in and attempt to save the chicks?

As someone told me on a previous post. If you dont try to incubate them you are 100% guaranteed total loss! Give it a shot, youve got nothing to lose :-)

5 have hatched so far!! LOL im peeking in the glass every 10 mins looking for more!

Well, I have my answer. Asked earlier if anyone thought they would hatch after no power for 13 hrs. I woke up this morning to 5 of the 15 already hatched! Even if no more hatch im glad at least some of them were saved. :-)

Mark Keister here from central Pa. I currently have bantams, banded sussex and a few coturnix quail. Im an egg and meat kind of enthusiast. They either lay eggs or become sunday dinner! Except for my old hen bantam that is. She has been around so long she is one of the family. :-)

My power went out yesterday. I have 15 coturnix quail eggs in the incubator. They have been incubating for 5 days. Temps never went under 60 degrees farenheit. Power was out for approx 15 hrs. So my question is, will at least SOME of them hatch or is the whole lot ruined?
