There have been a lot of good suggestions given. You need to choose one and do it, if that doesn't work try another. You have to remove it.

Any waterfowl hunters here? *graphic photos*

I don't find it offensive. People eat animals everyday, whether we buy it dead or kill it ourselves. Good job hunters. The title of the post was warning enough to anyone who might be offended. And yes the chickens I raise are food for my family and friends!

Why won't my chickens use the roosting pole?

At night, when they roost, pick them up and place them on the roost pole. Repeat every night until they roost on the pole by themselves. Also make sure the roost pole is higher than the nest boxes.

I have this air rifle. It has been very effective removing bothersome squirrels from the property and even some larger predators. I believe with a raccoon, a well placed head shot would be sufficient to kill it. These rifles are suprisingly powerful but the range isn't so great that the pellet...

    Head eaters?

I've had many chickens killed in this same manner. The predator doing it turned out to be an owl. It would come in the open pen door and kill the chicken while they were on the roost. Don't know if an owl is your problem though, but in my case it was, and it would just eat the head. I make sure...
