Is there a general way to tell the gender of your turkey poults? I have a royal palm that is six weeks old and a bourbon red that is four weeks old. Just wondering what to look for!
I had that problem with my chickens, the two barred rocks look the same an the two Orpington look the same. They have very subtle differences but initially very hard to tell apart.
I love the variety of colors in my little mixed flock. How many of you guys have mixed flocks? Here is a picture of my guys and gals. One crested Cayuga named Marty, one regular Cayuga named Bob, one Indian runner named Betty, one buff named Swampy, and finally a magpie named Jaguar
My cayugas a my ducks they ate quacking up a storm! The buff I am guessing as a drake because he has the starts of a drake feather although he does quack...So my question is can anyone tell what the magpie is? Its the smallest of the quartet and still makes baby peeps. Any thoughts? And am I...
He's the same age supposedly. They all are getting wing feathers but he is so much heavier and taller than the cayugas and the magpie. The magpies is the tiniest.
Yes. He's the yellow crested. The feathers on his wings are coming in a light tan/ brown. I'll take a close up in the morning. He is also the loudest and the spaziest :)
So when I bought my ducks I was told I have two Cayugas a Pekin and they were unsure of the last one which everyone has identified as a magpie (thanks!). Well my "Pekin" is getting his feathers in and they are brown! Does that mean that he is in fact a khaki Campbell? He is the biggest duck I...
So if I get a goose should I have two or would one be sufficient? And does the goose have to be raised with ducks or would an older one be OK? Lastly, does gender matter?
It was more for noise and surprise factor than actual fight. We have Canada geese like crazy around here and those guys are mean! Most of the dogs and cats know what a goose is and keep away. That was the idea. I guess I should have said watch goose instead of guard goose.
