    Our first ever flock is 14-15 weeks old now, so I figured it was time to officially introduce myself and our adventures. I have had a great time reading the posts and perusing the photos, not to mention having so many of my own newbie concerns answered by searching the website for information...
  5. LOVE that we were able to work our tree in the run for added shade. We are still trying to figure out the best way to enclose the top of the run without having to pin/tack into the tree.

  6. The run is a sizable 14' x 15'. Its larger than the husband had wanted, but I pushed for the sake of our flock and their fondness of being outside. We live in a smallish town north of Seattle, WA and receive a "generous" amount of rain. We may be adding a covered area come fall if our feathered friends don't appreciate the weather as much as we do.

  7. 3' x 6' inside the coop, plus two nesting boxes on the side. I had wanted the nesting boxes on the outside of the run for an easier fetching of future eggs and unfortunately hadn't considered the direct sun it would receive with that placement. If I had to do it over, I would put the boxes on the opposite side.

    Although we had hoped for all females, of the 7 "pullets" we purchased, three turned out to be more Rooster and less than the desired female ;)
