    Thanksgiving Turkey Processing

Thanks for the info. I am used to the broad breasted variety and decided to try the WH because they are a decent sized bird + they can naturally reproduce. Plus a turkey that weighs 38 lbs going into the oven is just too big. :)

Winter Broiler Projects-share your progress :)

I plan on starting my Winter batch of Cornish Cross in January. with a second batch started in October. I've picked these months mostly because butcher days will be mostly fly and meat bee free (especially meat bee free!). It was no fun in late October fighting the meat bees for my chickens. :)

    Thanksgiving Turkey Processing

Hi! I have White Hollands also and am wondering how big your birds turned out? Mine were 6 months old when we butchered them and the biggest was only 12 lbs. I'm hoping that they were just too young. I kept a tom and 2 hens for breeding next years Turkeys.

How many here are actual backyarders vs. Farmers?

    I'd consider myself a farmer. We're on 10 acres, have 50+ chickens, 6 Mucovey ducks, 16 turkeys, 2 pigs, 1 calf, 25 goats, 4 dogs and 4 cats.

    6-Week Old Chick Acting Strange

Hi All, I'm new to the forum and am wondering is anyone has had a chick with this behavior. This morning I found the little one standing with it's head tucked into it's chest. I picked him / her up and it kept it's head tucked. When I sat it down it can walk but is hunched over. After a bit I...
