    Help dog attack

I've treated wounds like this before. Firstly, get saline solution, wash out the wound, use a syringe without the needle to squirt water into the wound. Once clean, do not stitch it up - or you will lock in bacteria. Antibiotics are really good if you can get them from your vet as they will...

    Feathers Being Eaten - Mite?

How did you get on with the Ivermectin Billy83? Hope you didn't have to cull. Take a look at this information about depluming mite: https://poultrykeeper.com/external-problems/depluming-mites/ Looks like TwoCrows is right. I've never heard of this before, must be quite an unusual problem.

    releasing ducks into the wild?

Sometimes I find an odd orphan duckling that needs to be rescued and released when old enough. They generally do very well at integrating back into the local wild flock. Here in the UK, it's illegal to release domestics into the wild or any other non-native species. I found this article by Zoe...

When did you start to see development when candling your eggs ?

The moisture in the air that's drawn into the incubator will usually stop the humidity from going lower than that I guess.

When did you start to see development when candling your eggs ?

That's great. It's amazing to see isn't it. Far easier to see with the lights off in the dark as well. Happy hatching :-)

When did you start to see development when candling your eggs ?

Oh and as well as that page, just found this which has 'day by day' photos of what you should see: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/261876/chicks-are-here-egg-candling-pics-progression-though-incubation I'm getting excited for you, think I'd better get my incubator out again!

When did you start to see development when candling your eggs ?

I candle twice - once at day 7 to remove clear eggs (infertile) and once at about day 14 to remove dead in shell eggs. The red ring is typical of a bad egg and will be obvious during the second candling. There are a couple of candling photos on this page showing good eggs but also a sketch...

    Any guesses on breed?

Do you know what color egg she came from and does she have a crest? (or at least the makings of one - a few feathers standing up behind her comb? If so I'd say Crested Cream Legbar hen - she would have come from a blue colored egg.... but there are others that also look like this!

Can chicken lice crawl on humans?

I think its a good idea to treat the chook because the problem then goes away. I don't think they will crawl onto you though unless the bird is really heavily infested because they usually try to get out of the light as soon as you part the feathers. They wouldn't want to leave their host for...

    ISA-Brown page. :)))))))

I have kept them for some time now. They are probably the most friendly birds I've had and will hop onto my lap looking for treats!

    Hello from John

Hi all, Just wanted to say hello, I've just joined up. Have had chickens for most of my life but only really got into it seriously over the last few years. I have light sussex, wyandotte and mixed breed layers at the moment. I also have a few runner ducks. I look forward to sharing some...
