I am wondering what to put on my coop floor? The area is 4X8. Right now (cause I am so new to this) I just have hay down. Could someone give me ideas as to what works best?

I was holding this baby chick on the couch and it insisted it wanted to investigate my 4yr old westie, Lilly, who was curled up on side of me. After a sniff to the birds butt and a lick to the face, this little chick nestled in to steal some body heat from her.

I got these chickens locally. I have no idea what breed they are or if they are hens or roosters...could someone please help me in determining this? I am totally new and have no idea what to look for. I have been researching but still can't seem to figure it out! They are all roughly the same...
