I've been researching for about an hour, and am stumped...hoping someone can help me. I have three hens, one a Sultan, one a Brahama, and one an EE...they are all having difficulty swallowing, open mouth breathing, (but not constantly) and are sneeze/coughing off and on...still able to eat and...

Hey - my light Brahma had bubbles in her eyes (bilaterally) this morning. Caused her to shake her head, and generally stumble around a bit. I did some research and think its MG, separated her, put antibiotics in her water, and will clean all other waterers soon...
My questions are these 1)...
I have two hens, one is around 5, and the other is 2. They have fluid gathering in what feels like their abdomen, or lung area, and when we put gentle pressure on them, the fluid comes rushing out their mouths. I've been giving antibiotics for two days, but I'm not sure it's helping. Mini...
Howdy - One of my 12 girls has been laying teeny, I mean really teeny eggs - this morning I decided to check out what was inside of them. In the past with these ity bittys, I got lots of white with no yolk - but these had white with a red yolk and some particulate which was a darker red...
Thanks everyone, I will commence the worming tomorrow. Would it be prudent to worm all the girls? Can they spread it around? What about decontaminating their hen house?
Okay - I did check for mites - thee are none, but how do I check for worms? Mind you - these are all rescue chickens that DO NOT like to be caught, so it's pretty stressful for them. Any "catching" suggestions?
Okay, so here's the deal - we have 12 chickens, and about 3 of them are just not quite right. Nothing spectacular, but very subtle and I'm stymied. Loretta Lynn, a three year old Brahma is molting for the second time this year??? Her egg production went from pretty good to zero and often she...
Hello - I am not sure if this is anything to be worried about, but lately we have discovered several shell-less eggs - usually white, so I was assuming it was our Leghorn, but today I went out and discovered a softish brown egg covered with very viscous fluid and some blood. Since the discovery...
Hello - my name is Lynn Markert. I live in Salt Lake City, Utah and have three Khaki Campbell ducks. Yesterday, I noticed one of the girls was limping very badly, and when she stands still will not touch her leg to the ground. They are three months old, and still very wild - they do not want...
Thank you all for your advice - I feel much better now. Hopefully he will settle down a bit - and I'm happy I can eat the eggs - WHEW!! Is it advantageous to have a Roo?
I used to let my girls out to free range in the city, all day , most days. However, we have started only letting them out for three or four hours simply because they trashed the yard! We have never had predator problems, but the girls are in a yard that is really protected, and their run...
So - the inevitable finally happened - an accidental rooster in with my chics. He is about 10 weeks old, a California Leghorn...I am not a fan. While he is sweet with me, and my partner, he is a creep to the hens. Jumping their bones whenever the mood hits him, which is constantly. He is...
Howdy - my 2 year old silver Wyandote has one pupil dialated and one constricted. She seems to be able to see out of both eyes, but I am concerned because my other Wyandote - same age, same breeder, has gone blind in one eye. Is this some sign of a funky chicken disease? (no pun intended...)
Thanks Chickenzoo - I just got off the phone with our vet - she seemed to think it was some sort of congenital defect because it occured after her first molt, and she was very small for her breed. If we lose another one - we will be having a necropsy done for sure. Sorry too about your RIR...
When my wife went out to check on the girls tonight - she found Reba dead in the run ...she laid yesterday, seemed fine - when she was let out this morning - she came running with the rest of them. No blood, no deformities, no loose stool, her comb seemed to go a bit grey the last two days or...
Howdy - I have three hens that have just finished molting, and I noticed their combs are unnaturally pale...is this normal? Do they need extra somethin' somethin' s in their diet? They have started laying again after about a two month hiatus...
I just returned from a two week vacation and found the girls in pretty good health - except - all my 1 year olds are losing all the feathers around their heads and combs - they look as if they are bald old men! Is this a pest thing? From the heat? Stress? Any info would be appreciated...
I have a one year old EE that lost her wing...similar to your story - she would run and step on it, tripping herself...sorta' funny, sorta' not, anyway - she does well - lays fine, eats, drinks and even flys some - as well as fat chickens fly. She does have some balance issues, truoble getting...
