    YO GEORGIANS! :)

I have a couple Easter Eggers at point of lay that I could sell. Also a couple New Hampshires and 3 Buff laced polish Roosters. They are all 6 months old and raised together. I'm in Covington and leery of posting on Craigslist.

    *Buff Orpington Thread!*

Our broody silky pullet just hatched 4 chicks, 3 BO and a white leghorn. I didn't think they would actually hatch but decided to let her try. I just can't resist fuzzy little chicks. Now we have 26 chickens!

When do Buff Orpingtons start laying?

They are worth the wait. Once they get going, they are laying machines.

    Just starting to Lay

My Leghorn layed her first egg @ 21 weeks and one of our Buff Orpingtons layed her first egg today at 20 weeks. I have crushed oyster shell out for them. Since we have many others who are 8 weeks younger, I'm waiting to give layer feed until they are all laying. Layer feed is actually lower in...

Is she or isn't she? 9 week old pullet (?)

Looks just like my Cuckoo Marans of the same age. I'm still holding out hope it could be a pullet. Still no pointed saddle feathers. I read that comb development is actually the least reliable way to sex a chick. I was disappointed when the comb suddenly developed and turned red. It's my...

How old can a chick be before you clip their wings?

I'm curious too. I have a group of EE, NH, and Polish. They've been super flighty since day 1 compared to our others.

So true. That's why I joined BYC. It's nice to be able to talk chicken with people who don't think you're crazy.

    YO GEORGIANS! :)

I don't know why I keep looking at Craigslist. I'm so tempted to get some more chickens. We already have 24 for now. We'd have to build another coop. I may need a support group.

    YO GEORGIANS! :)

I live in Newton County. We have White Leghorns, Buff Orpingtons, Silkies and a Cuckoo Maran. We also have some 2 week old New Hampshires, Easter Eggers, and Buff Laced Polish. I'm obsessed with my chickens. I think my family is beginning to get jealous.

Chicks in the mail a long time

Maybe the post office will call soon. It's weird that they would ship on Saturday. I would just be ready with some electrolytes when they come.

    Mealworm farms

We started our farm with 1000 worms a couple months ago. It took a few weeks for them all to pupate and for the beetles to hatch. After 5 weeks, I can finally see the tiny worms growing. We are using the drawer method. I move the drawers one every 2 weeks and put new vegetables in every few...
