When my hens began laying, i began getting a maximum of 4 eggs a day. A couple weeks later i began.getting 3 or less every day. The only thing that i have seen change, is that one of my tuxedo coturnix has been in the shared nexting.tub constantly. She wont even leave when i come to collect eggs...
All my chicks died but one. None seemed interested in the electrolytes, even after dipping their beaks several time per quail. So frustrating, should i buy from a diffrent person? I forgot to mention, after cracking open remaining eggs, i had alot of mostly grown quail, and several eggs that...
So funny, that so many women's animal collections have to have the thumbs up from our men before growing! I just got done using my birthday as an excuse to beg mine into letting me have a couple bantam silkies to hopefully help hatch quail eggs.. And of course to hold, and stuff full of treats...
I don't own the parents. We orderd them off ebay, so we really dont have any idea of the parents conditions. We alrrady had a small mic flock of coturnix, but did not have any Texas A&M. This was yet another attempt to hatch some. Diffrent breeder than our original birds.
It seems like my last hatch of babies was much less sensitive. Only lost a couple of them. Used diffrent breeders for each, so maybe just a more sensitive line of quail. The ones that are healthy, seem very very healthy, should i seperate the qeustionable ones out?
I have egg yolks in there for them. Been exchanging them for fresh ones daily, but there were definatly alot of probleMs throughout incubation. Just alot of temp fluctuation (going to try a diffrent location next time). I double checked the temp under my heat bulb, and was reading a little low...
Really? I had read not to leave them in anymore than 24 hours. Ill have to try that next time! They hatched out Sunday. Had a couple hatch later ( early monday morning). I had originally started pulling them out of the incubator because they were bouncing all over my other eggs. Maybe iits not...
I am having a super big problen woth my newly hatched quail, they are dropping like flies. One after another. Alot of splayed legs, but what about the rest? They look fine one minute, and the next, they are laying half dead on thr other side of the brooder? What am I doing wrong? My man thinks...
My little quails first egg. Its not very big, but im sure proud of my girls! Whoever it was, even layed in the nest! For coturnix, I feel like thats pretty awesome!!
Aww! So so cute! You have beautiful birds! I might not be ready just yet though. Id like to get a bit of privacy fence for them. Atleast enough so that people cant see them from the road. I will probably only be wanting a pair. Would 100sq feet satisfy them? Can i lock them up at night in a...
I have 17 now. Stared at this incubator all day yesterday, up until about 2 am, and the little bugges popped out somtime between then and 6 am! Im a little worried because they appear to be stomping other eggs open now. Should i get them outa there, or let them go about their way for a while...
Ugh, hatch day and not even a wiggle. Darn usps, why must they torture me? If your gonna throw my box of eggs around like a footbball and crush half of them, dont even bother delivering it! My egg supplier wrapped them up beautifuly. To bad usps didnt care about a box marked fragile on every...
They sounds like a great breed, and the faces are to die for, lol. I might need to hatch a few. If they get too loud, they can always go live at the cabin. Do they need alot of extra winter housing? Would an old dog house work? Are they friendly? Darn little runner ducks. I love their funny...
I wiah i could tell how my eggs were developing. Stupid spotty quail eggs! Cant see a thing. When i moved them off the turner though, some seemed a little light, and sone seemed particularly heavy. Dunno what that means, but its probably not good, lol
I have 94 A&M coturnix hatching (hopefully) Saturday. I was supposed to have 120 eggs, but unfortunatly, usps thought it said football instead of fragile, so after removing crushed eggs, trying our best to gently scrub the dried crusty egg off the others, and making the outside cats very happy...
Does anyone know of any reasonably priced pigeons in Iowa, or more so around the fremont county area? Im looking for just some random birds, no particular breeds, but fancy fliers are always top of my favorite list.
