I think I got had. Purchased 4 eggs from eBay that were supposed to be Cinnamon Queens but I think the person bred CQ to CQ and now Im stuck with non-auto-seeable birds.
In CQ the males are born white and the females are born brownish. In my case I had 2 hatch, one was white the other brown...
I ended up having a misunderstanding with Schuster and his true colors came out. We no longer do business with him. JerseyChickens in Jackson NJ is a very nice place. Bruce and his wife are very knowledgeable and usually have a nice selection of different aged birds at a reasonable price. He is...
He turned out to be a very nice looking Rooster. Took almost a year for him to start crowing and even now he does not have that prominent of a comb. I did notice his spurs started to grow more than the hens at about 10 months. He was about 4 inches taller than the confirmed hen when I sold him...
I've read that some bloodlines get exceptionally larger than others. Does any one have personal knowledge or opinion as to what breeders have the overall largest Jersey Giants?! Thanks....
Not sure this is right forum for this. How long do these things take to mature?! I have a splash Roo that is 8.5 months old and barely has a comb or waddles. He doesn't crow yet and weighs almost nothing. He does have the rooster feathering just wondering when hes going to be the big majestic...
Am I allowed to bump this? They are just straight up for sale now. Think Im going to wait to get into the duck keeping business. Ill take $50 obo for the four of them. One of the swedes is turning out to be super super friendly.
I have a pair each of about 2.5 to 3 week old Ducklings. One set is of a nice pair of Blue Swedish Ducks and the other is a pair of Rouens. Awesome ducks that I have been trying to handle as much as possible to make them friendly. They are still peeping but I am starting to see blood feathers...
How do you tell the difference between a mallard and a rouen? Ive read better things about the rouens. You think blue swedish I stead of khaki campbells?
I am normally good at sexing my chickens and spotting roosters, this one just takes me for a loop. I misquoted myself about the age. I just checked the hatch calendar and the JG's are between 13-14 weeks old, not 18 weeks like i stated earlier. Not sure if that 4-5 weeks matters. oops.
New pictures:
Saddle Feathers with POINTS and bending down the rear of the chicken
Has had this comb since about 2 weeks but (s)he's getting over a respiratory infection so it turned pinkish
His/her Blue Jersey Giant hatch mate that I believe to be a true pullet
(notice the saddle...
To me..and I am no expert....it sort of looks like his saddle feathers are pointed and starting to curl downward. Has anyone experienced a pullet jg w that characteristic
I can get a shot...ill post it tomorrow. Usually my roos are crowing by his age but ive never had a male jersey giant so i am clueless to their maturing process
