Well, thank you so much. I really like that idea and will have to make sure and keep that recipe for wood butter. Now i just have to figure out where to get food grade mineral oil and beeswax. The mineral oil should be pretty easy. I know they sell that at most pharmacies. The beeswax will be...
That's really neat, but is it permanent? I built a 2 level pen out of wood and hardware cloth. I'm wanting to seal both the inside and the outside to protect it both from the birds and the weather. Would that hold up? Does it have to be redone periodically?
I am building my own pen from various lumber that i have access to and am close to being done (hopefully ). Since it is made out of wood, i am wanting to treat it to protect it from the elements. What would work well but be safe for my birds? I know they can be sensitive to chemicals...
I just wanted to post an update.....my little frizzle is doing great!!!! We finished treatment several days ago. 5 days of baytril and erythromycin ointment and everything has cleared up. Eyes open and growing!!!! :D
U don't think that would be too much for her system? She's a banty, so she's a little bitty thing. I'll weigh her tonight, but I'm gonna guess she's not much more than a pound, if that. Also, then i wouldn't be able to give her vitamins or probiotics while she's on the corid, correct? I just...
My main reasoning behind the baytril is that it's the one I'm the most familiar with, and i have access to it. When i worked at the vet clinic, that was pretty much what we used for birds (granted, it wasn't often n it wasn't chickens). I plan to get an exact weight on her so i don't give her...
So i appear to have more going on with my little frizzle than i originally thought. Her eyes have gotten worse. She definitely has conjunctivitis and will rarely open them now, and when she does, it's not much. Her lids seem slightly swollen when her eyes are closed. They are not getting crusty...
Well, thank you so much for all the advice. I went and got the Corid today, so I'll get that going, and then follow up with the other things. Hopefully that will get her feeling better and all fixed up. I wanna be sure that I'm providing the best care possible for my chickie babies!! :)
Thanks...
Thank u so much! I will get her going on the corid asap. Will she need any kind of vitamin supplement one the round of corid is done? I know she can't have anything like that while on it.
I'm guessing u use one of the wormers that u listed in the earlier post. Is there one that u think is better...
Well, now her crop doesn't seen so swollen....she must have just eaten when i felt it earlier. I can feel some food in it, but not like it was before. Her most recent droppings that i see really don't look too bad. I just don't know what to think! I just want to do what's best for her. She's...
She does seem tired. She'll perk up at times, but she does seem to sleep alot and isn't as active as i would expect her to be. I looked her over very closely again, and she also appears to have a swollen crop. Some of her droppings do appear to have some blood, so i had decided that coccidiosis...
I just got my first frizzle a couple of days ago, and I'm new to the breed (well, type). I've noticed that she keeps one or both of her eyes closed alot. She will open them, and when she does, they look clear. No eye discharge or nasal discharge or any signs of respiratory issues. She's eating...
I just got my first frizzle she (i hope) is supposed to be a splash Cochin frizzle, about 3 1/2 months old. Does that look/sound right? Like I said, she's my first so I'm just learning about them. Also, I've noticed that she tends to keep one or both of her eyes closed alot.when they're open...
I'm in central ar....just a little South of little rock. Looking forward to meeting local fellow chicken lovers!! I'm very new to it, but i adore my chickie babies!!!
