Thanks. So sad :(. The buff Orpington rooster actually had a prolapsed vent (must have been intestine?) as a chick, and I had a vet sew it back in. Love those guys - wish I could keep them.
I have 6 chicks (5 months old). I know one of the silkies is a male (I saw him crow), but someone else is crowing too. It could be two of the others. I think it might be one of the Buff Orpingtons and/or one
of the Ameracaunas. Can you please help me tell who is a rooster? Thank you!
Another of my pullets turned into a rooster today. This time, it's a beautiful big buff Orpington. Is anyone interested? He's free, he's been raised free-ranging and organically. Would love for him to go to a nice home.
One of my hens turns out to be a boy. This beautiful guy has been raised free ranging, and is very sweet. He is actually very submissive to the other hens. I will drive him to his new home and can donate an almost-new coop with the rooster. Please consider taking this guy!
I have 6 four week old chicks, but 2 are bantam silkies, and small. Our lows at night are 60 degrees. Can they stay in a safe coop with lots of bedding outside at this point? No heat? They seem so much happier out there I
Than in the plastic bin brooder! Thanks.
Hmmm, well, maybe they will just be the most entertaining of the 6! I keep throwing stuff in the brooder to keep them occupied - jasmine flowers, oatmeal, more dirt, etc. I'm looking forward to the day they can spend all day outside :)
I have 6 chicks that we got from the same hatchery. 2 Amerecaunas, 2 Buff Orps, and 2 bantam silkies. All are the same age, but their behavior is so different. I'm a little worried about the silkies. The other 4 are generally mellow, like to be held, play hard and sleep hard. The silkies...
Hi all - just a question...I would like to try this type of feeder/watering system, but does anyone worry about storing the food and water in PVC and other plastics for long periods of time? I'm not usually a worry wart, but since we are trying to get "healthy" eggs, I wondered if maybe metal...
Hi all! Just bout a house with three hens, and I'm totally new to this. I've already fallen in love with my girls, though, so I'm really looking forward to learning more about how to make them happier. Can't wait to start reading :)
