Well my shipment of predators came in 2 days ago however, none were running about in the bag so I let it sit inside till they started to swarm. I then put them in paper sandwich bags which I place about the yard where most of the fly activity is. This was a package of 10,000 since I was...

Well she does kill opossums like a pit bull would. All you can hear is the snapping of bone. It is hard to believe that such a small dog has such jaw strength. I will not let her get into it with a coon though. They are way too big for her but, we have yet to have one get in the yard...

Being limited on space I had to move my compost to some barrels now that I turn myself. When I had it in the bin that the girls had access too I spent most of my time shoveling it back into the bin. I do let them hit the garden after the growing season just before and after I till it up and...

Yes you will notice a big difference after the predators have gotten the upper hand. Oh, and by the way I am Abbys grandfather. She actually doesn't know she has an egg farm named after her yet. Hi Everyone! I am Abby!

We socialized Moshie on the leash. Her first instinct was to attack and it took a week with correction before we actually let her loose with them. Of all dogs I have owned in my life she is by far the smartest one I have ever had. I now have the hens seperated in their own free range area and...

Fly predators are not non-native species. They were actually developed from indigenous species and are only a threat to the fly pests themselves and are definitely considered "non-invasive".

I use a combination of the diatomaceous earth in the hens feed and the fly predators. If the adult flies are too many at first using predators I use some traps till the predators can catch up. Here is a link to how they work from Spaulding Labs the one that I obtain my predators from...

I forgot to introduce a very important member of our Chicken herd. This is "Moshie" our Jack Russel/Beagle mix. She is cool with the chickens when they are free ranging and at nite she is one heck of a watch dog. She has nailed 3 possums before and is totally unafraid of taking them on. I...

This the coop I built 4 years ago. The run is detachable. Note the nesting box on the outside to retrieve eggs without having to enter the coop. I used sofit vents along the bottom with just below the tin roof is covered with hardware cloth. This keeps good circulation even in the hottest of...

Well, I decided to go ahead an join this time. I have had chickens since 2008 and found BYC being very helpful back then to get us started. We started with 3 red producers in a chicken tractor that I made all out of "Obtanium". I built a real hen house a few years ago on skids so it would not...
