Thank you for giving me that information! I never really knew how cold eggs could get and still have some success with hatching. I just assumed that if they get below freezing they're goners. Trying to gather eggs right now is just not going to happen, considering that it has been extremely cold...
I am in need of suggestions on how to keep my eggs warm until I get the chance to gather them. They cannot get cold because I want to incubate these eggs but because of a busy schedule I can't check the box every hour for eggs:( help me please!
Thank you both for responding! I had a feeling that I was going to have to just keep incubating and trying to candle the eggs and see if they are fertile. It is rather difficult to see through my chickens brown egg shells. I think I might see some bright spots in my latest batch!:D
Thanks for replying so soon! He does have a good amount of both hens and roos. I realize I may have to introduce new blood into my flock every couple of years but I did not know if it would be a good idea to breed the roo to my pullets and my hens to my cockerels?? Everybody suggests something...
