    Twisted neck, frail, not eating

Percy is about 8 months old now and has never been quite right. A small buff girl. We got her from a very reputable silkie breeder, and for free, because her beak was twisted. In fact her whole body was slightly off kilter. There has always had a slight kink in her neck and seemed to be pulling...

    Deficient chickens?

We just checked. Weve been feeding them Green Mountain Grains organic layer pellets with a protein of 16%. First ingredient was corn, second was soy. Probably the problem. We like that its organic, so making home grown food, im guessing, is our only other option?

    Deficient chickens?

Sorry for the confusion! I just meant when I feed them at least once a day, that I refilled the big feed holder at least once a day everyday. They have food at all times, and we also give them food scraps just about every day. But perhaps there just isnt enough protien in the food itself to keep...

    Deficient chickens?

My girls are on the older end....about 5 years. The parasites on the other hand might be the problem...Ill take a look at them. I know I had problems 2 months ago and I didnt even think of that 'til now. I thought the problem was done when I covered everything in Diatmaceous earth. It seemed to...

    Deficient chickens?

I have 10 girls in a nicley sized chicken coop who keep picking on eatother. They only pick off the ends of the chest feathers on eachother so the leads me to believe that this isnt a coop size issue, but a deficiency matter. They also go outside everyday, and are given organic chicken feed at...

    Bacterial infections causing cancers?

I just brought my bantam brahma girl to the vet yesterday. I posted a few weeks ago about her having a prolapse. It was not a prolapse but a tumor all around her vent. I was told that surgery was not an option because after the tumor is removed there would not be enough skin left to suture her...

Thanks for all the help everybody! I did got a lot of that egg mess off since yesterday. I have soaked her many times since yesterday as well. Turkeys attacked my chicken?

She died in my arms at 11:24 last night. She started to slightly breath through her mouth and convulse for a few seconds at a time. I was so scared for her. She did this three times and the last time she let out an awful shriek. The guilt I feel for her death hurts me physically. Oh, Maggie.

    Unresponsive silkie from turkey attack?

I gave her about half a 1 ml syringe of aspirin. It was one 81 mg aspirin dissolved as much as possible in 1/4 cup of water. She did make the swallowing gestures when I put it in her mouth. She is breathing, lays limp in my hands, but is moving her eyes behind closed lids, and twitching every so...

    Turkeys attacked my chicken?

We went back and forth about it being one of the goats, too, but its too clean. Her skin wasnt really damaged, just defeathered. Even if she had a wound they picked at, that she developed after lunch because she was fine before then, she is in the area with a ditzy polish girl, and another...

    Unresponsive silkie from turkey attack?

I just posted in the turkey forum about a possible attack from two hens on my silkie girl. Her head is picked of feathers, she was bleeding near her ear, and is unresponsive. Is there anything I can do for her? Pain medicine? I just started a heating pad under her.
