I was the original poster. I know that when we got our feeder pigs, they were about 50 lbs. The producer told us they were vaccinated. I'd assume unless you breed your own, you may be hard pressed to find pigs that were unvaccinated. Again, I'd assume. This will be my second year.
We processed our young dual purpose birds yesterday at about 12 weeks. This one was a hen, but we culled her because she was constantly being pecked in the head by our meat chickens, then our layers when we moved her. After processing, my husband saw what looked like a very small hole on her leg...
We have a sick feeder pig who has signs of pneumonia. She got an antibiotic shot from a vet, and the withdrawal period ends on Thursday. She was getting a little better but has since gotten worse, and now has mucus discharge from her nose, which is a new symptom. My husband says we can go ahead...
I have a 1-yr-old Brahma rooster that has been walking funny for several months now, almost like he doesn't bend his knee on his left leg while he walks (kind of like he has a peg leg). We'd only had one other rooster before, who was a smaller breed and thought maybe that was just a funny strut...

Dad is an Easter Egger/Ameraucana, Mom is a Plymouth Rock (is at the bottom of picture 1).
About 2 months old. Not sure if it's a Rooster or a Hen yet, but it sure is pretty.

I am a new member, but long-time visitor of the site. Have 17 hens, 1 rooster, and 4 mama-raised chicks, on 20 acres. I also have 4 turkey "chicks" or whatever the term is for that, and am looking forward to meat chickens next spring. Thanks!
**But after getting responses to my other forum...
We bought several chicks this spring at the local feed store, all were supposed to be hens. They are now about 20 weeks or so. We had a rooster before these chicks, and the main flock stays with him. I'd say like 14 hens hang with the older rooster. This chicken hangs out in a smaller flock of 4...
