The Tale of Beak the Rooster: Mean, Violent, Dangerous, and also my Friend.

Ok so I realize the appropriate thread would probably be Random Ramblings but this story is very much based on his behavior so cut me some slack will you?

The Tale of Beak the Rooster: Mean, Violent, Dangerous, and also my Friend.

I've had two ISA Browns and two RIRs since March 2013. My father had no intention of buying anything from a nearby pet store, my brother was just bored and wanted to observe some animals. I was off at a friend's party, and my mom and sister were shopping. When my father saw the chicks at the pet...

Can you add another chick to a brood

I think it's safe to do. The chicks are too young to hurt each other anyways.

Hens or Chicks for a newbie? Advice needed!

You probably want to start off with chicks, they are easy to take care of. Like, REALLY easy. My family got away with keeping them in an aquarium until they got too large for it; after that we put them in a dog cage. The dog cage was perfect for them, nice and roomy. Yeah this is totally normal. The first time I let my chicks out was when they were a week old. We let them run loose in my living room with all family/threats aside form me and my dad in another part of the house. They were happy, curious and all over the place. Getting them back in is quite the...

What to put on ground of chicken run?

I think I have a solution to this issue with the shavings. When I had 2 month old chicks we kept them in a dog cage and used pine shavings. Our solution to the shavings being kicked out and scattered was to put a layer of bubble wrap around the entire cage.

Do chickens give a sign if they're bothered by the poop?

Speaking from personal experience, not very much. They have no problem stepping in it or where they do it, they're just like that. But they're smart enough not to stick their mouths in it.

    how many is too many?

How many fit on the roosting bar is probably how many you can have at the most. If you don't have a roosting bar or plan to disregard it, I'd say you have space for 7-10 chickens.

How do i make my chicks like me? haha

I have multiple chickens that I've owned since birth, and they love me. They don't like being picked up and handled, but they will gladly let me pet them for minutes on end if I catch them in the right mood. The key factor is spending time with them, making them realize you are a regular part of...
