Got this rooster as a chick, supposed to be a blue copper maran. I am going to breed it with bcm's to get 50/50 blue and black. I just wanted confirmation that this is a blue. Not sure because of the spotted patterns on his back... He is about 28 to 30 weeks old.
Thanks, Rob.
I have had EE's for a while and got nice blue eggs. I ordered some BLUE SPLASH WHEATEN AMERAUCANA HATCHING EGGS from ebay and got these eggs that are green? I was assured that they are full Blue Splash Wheaten Ameraucana's... Can that be true?

Ok so I have one golden comet amongst my EE's. So I have been hatching EE's but am thinking of getting rid of them all to hatch my own Golden Comets to keep and to sell... So I can not figure out what mix actually makes a golden comet... I have heard a production RIR and Rhode island white hen...
So I set 7 eggs and 3 were infertile. On day 20 one hatched and as I took my daughters to soccer practice the cat (while trying to get to the new chirping chick) knocked the incubator off onto the floor... My wife called me and let me know what happened. She cleaned up the mess and put...
Ok, I have two coops. One of 1 and 2 year old hens, mostly EE's and some other no EE mixes, 10 hens, 1 EE rooster (Jack).
My other coop is 3 Cochin Hens and 1 Buff Orfinton hen. I have these so when they eventually go broody I can pick the eggs from the EE's I want to hatch and let the others...
Ok, so my broody hen hatched two of 3 eggs I slipped under her yesterday. I have a couple of questions.
The nesting boxes are up off the ground about 2 or 3 feet. I attempted to isolate her and the eggs one night but she freaked out, so I moved them back (about two weeks ago).
There is a...
Long story short.
I got 6 hens about 4 months ago; determined never to own a rooster.
They are in a 12X8 coop/tractor (it was a coop till I started moving it around, which is tough but I still do it every 1 to 2 weeks)
The also free range when I get home from work till evening.
One hen went...
I have been feeding them Purina Layers feed and also clam shells (about a hand full per 7lbs of regular). Should I stop with the clam shells?
The eggs are seriously difficult to crack open... I didn't notice till I got some eggs from a friend that were fertilized and all of them wouldn't fit...
