The one in my 20 gal is 3 1/2 years old, and most of the time he doesn't even move away when I stick tubifex worms on the glass for him and the small fish in the tank He's the larges fish in there as the tetra and danio are varieties that are full grown...

The damsels can be territorial in a smaller tand. Might consider blue chromis instead.

    Introduction.

I got my first chicks 14 years ago. I've kept from 8 to 25. The all have names, so no eating them. Half of them are so old they don't lay any more but that's okay We have a lot of trees so hawks aren't a problem. They free range and beg for fish food when I feed at the koi pond. On...

Layer pellets & scratch?? Less eggs or more?

I go very light in the warmer weather. Just a handful as a morning treat when they come running in from all over the yard. If it's really cold I throw a little out a few times a day in small amounts to get the body temperature up, mostly just before, they are settling in for the night. But I...

    Rooster(s) Hard on a hen(s)

They make soft caps to put on cat claws. Or you can find small rubber caps at the hardware store. Glue them on the roosters nails and often this will help.

    Introduction

I have kept chickens for 10 years now. I used to raise Budgies, Cockatiels, and R.osellas , thought I'd try chickens for a change and am glad I did. They are so much fun. I have a mutt and two cats that get along fine with them. The chickies free range during the day but we have many large...

    Roosting Beam Question

I had 2x2 perches 3 ft high and the chickens did well with them until I got a couple of hens with bumble foot. I assumed it was caused by irritation from the hard perches since I found no sign of injury. I have since covered my perches with split pool noodles attached with twist ties. Some...

    Rooster(s) Hard on a hen(s)

!I made lightweight chicken coats, The hens didn't mind and they held up well, other than a few missing feathers on their heads, until the roosters finally eased up.

is Dumor (dumour) a good feed brand?

I've used DuMOR for my chickies from day one and they have always done very well. They are out performing my neighbors in laying at the same age and same number of chickens. I've never noticed any more odor than with other foods except when I get carried away with their evening snacks

     Losing feathers and weight

I always dust my new chickens with diatom powder when I put them out and provide Feather fixer and the same (NOT POOL) diatomacous earth in the feeder. They do very well. I also dust the bedding, boxes, and perches with it. I used to have your problems too. I hope this helps.
