I have felt her leg multiple times, but can't feel anything that's different from the good leg. Also she doesn't act any different when I'm manipulating it either. I've tried to figure it out lots of times, but I can't get a read on where the problem is. She sleeps in my bathroom at night and...
I came home from vacation and she was limping and wouldn't put weight on it (or hardly any weight). While on vacation, I had tried to separate a different bird by tying some rope across the coop to create a "room" for a different bird that was recovering from a wound. She was bigger than the...
I have a 4 month old pullet that seems to have broken her leg. Does anyone know of a solution that would be around $200. I called a vet near me and they said it would be $325+ for the diagnostics and then the treatment would be additional $. I'd love to help her, but can't go broke doing it...
I'm hoping to get some opinions on if I have a girl or boy. My Japanese bantam is 3 months and 1 week old. Do you think it's a girl? Her combs gotten redder, but not grown much at all.
Does anybody have day old chicks they are wanting to sell. My broody birds hatched out 5 chicks, 3 are girls. Looking for 4-5 more girls. Not super picky on breed but need them young to mix with my 1-3 day old chicks.
That's a great suggestion to use shade cloth. I hadn't thought of it. It is funny to watch them pop out of the underground tunnel.
The attacks did happen in the daytime. The raccoon killed when we were out of town. I came back that night, late, to half my chickens in the coop. My dead...
I have a chicken tunnel. It runs from my coop that's half way up my hill to my side yard where they have a big run area. They even have an 8' section where they go under ground; under the gate to the side yard area. They all (9 chickens) do it well. We have had a raccoon that's attacked and...
I'm looking for fertile eggs to put under my broody batam Cochin. How many will fit under a small bantam. Also, does anyone close to Penasquitos have some fertile eggs that I can buy.
I too get tired of dealing with rediculous antics of ignorant people where chickens are concerned. We should leave Norco behind and do it elsewhere.
Birds flying around and cats passing through and stray animals along with wild animals are fine in a park, but chickens with owners are...
I have a chicken that was injured by another chicken and now can't see well. She's been a house chicken for almost a week (except when we are home and she free ranges in another part of the yard. I'm not sure I will ever be able to fully integrate her back into the flock. She's really...
Poor chickens. I'm glad that you have found out what's going on. So sorry. At least many seem to be living normal lives. Glad you've found FF to help them along.
I think she was referring to my vitamin c in the water for de-chlorination. The source I saw is 2 milligrams per liter. But I put in 1000-1500 mg per 50-80 gallon water change in my fish. I don't know the chlorination level of my water but it's pretty bad. Also my fish try to eat it when I...
I learned a great trick on chlorinated water. If you crush some vit. C tablets into water the vitamin c chemically adheres to the chlorine and binds it in a non-toxic form. I use it every time I add water from the tap to my fish tank. Fish are super sensitive to chlorine or chloramine (which...
I think the key is to have a lot of room for them. If you plan on buying a small little ready made coop where they will be confined 90% of the day to 15 sq ft (5'x3') then you have to plan accordingly. But a breed variety will be great if they have some room to roam.
