Have 6 ducks eggs that pipped. Most of them over 24hrs now into it. ALL of them have not had any progress since the initial first little crack in the egg, which is alittle bit concerning but i'm trying to be patient and give them a bit longer before thinking something is wrong. Anyway, I have...
So I have a 150 square foot chicken run with 3 chickens and their coop (but planning on adding 1-2 more chickens) and was wondering if I could put a raised quail cage inside the run? I haven't been able to find a straight answer, hoping you all could help.
^ This is the one I have now, but...
Just gathered a very tiny egg from the quail cage! Anyone else have any experience with this? Ive never seen one like this before and am very curious.
What should I do with it?
Im wondering if it is possible to hatch something like this??? Probably not, but love the idea of a very tiny quail...
2 of my quails are being picked on by the rest. Theyve all lived together for around 2 weeks now with no problems. Went to feed them this morning and one over their heads was a bloody bald mess (pictured)!!! And the other has feathers missing around its throat with bloody wound (not pictured)...
So I went out to feed the quail this morning and there were splats of blood all over the cage. Thought maybe there was a fight in there, though that would be strange because they've (1 roo & 6 hens) always been fine together. Though, 2 of the girls were just introduced in there alittle over a...
Are there any of you on here in the eastern Utah or western Colorado area (or somewhat close) that have some fertile eggs? Getting back into raising chickens and would love to get my hands on some local/somewhat local hatching eggs to start with!
I DO have some preferred breeds I would like that...
Can anyone help me out? I would like to know where the closest place to buy feed is from Colrain, MA?? I know there is an Agway about 10 miles away in Shelburne Falls, is there anywhere closer??
Any info would be great. Thanks!

So yesterday one of my hens hatched her eggs, and left one unhatched. So I took it and popped it in the incubator. Later that night it hatched.
I decided to let it sleep with me under my blanket like I have done with MANY of my others. (I am a very light sleeper and have never had a problem...
Is it okay to move a brooding hens nest to another spot? My hen was sitting on 14 eggs underneath a this dresser we have next to the coop. She just dug alittle bit to get under there and decided thats where she wanted to nest. I wanted to move her because when it rains they will be soaked, and...
I am going to order some ducklings (within the next couple days) and only want about 5. The thing is that the hatchery needs to have a MINIMUM order of 10. So I figured I would buy the 10, and sell off the other 5 for the price I got them for. A great thing about this deal, for you, is I will...
I just switched my brooder bedding from hay to pine chips and my 1 week old chicks keep digging around and pecking at the chips, almost looks like they are trying to eat it. I was thinking they are just looking for bugs.
Is it too soon to start throwing bugs in there for them to find?
When...
My chick just hatch and he can't stand. He can only lay on his back and kick. On one foot his toes have a little curlage going on. And his other leg is crooked to the side (towards his other leg), and the toes on that leg are kind of crooked and my alittle bent backwards.
What should I do...
One of mine that was due today broke through the egg a few hours ago. The things is that his beak broke through and never went back in. I havebeen observing for awhile now and what it looks like is he's trying to pull his beak back in so he can continue to peck at it from the inside. Should I...
I posted this in the "Raising Chicks" section also. I am posting the link here because I am extremely worried about my new chicks condition. I would like as much advice as possible.
Sorry if this is rude to post it in 2 catagories
Here it is...
Is there something terribly wrong with him? His head stays cocked to the side... like completely side ways. Is there something I can do? Is he disabled?
I've been holding this chick that hatched today on my shirt for like an hour now. And when I move him I see all his little tiny furs on my shirt. Normal?
