How can I get one of my chickens to stop laying on the drop board? I need to fix this! I will find them broken and on the floor sometimes and now they are starting to eat them. I have tried a few things like when I see her up there ready to lay, I put her in the nest box. But then she just...
I wanted to buy Stall Dry which I believe is a mixture of DE and clay but instead, bought Dry Stall which is volcanic aggregate. Dry Stall (volcanic aggregate) looks like small tiny crushed rocks and thinking it was the same thing, I added it to the sand in my run. I really wanted to use it...
Sure is quiet in my house, I miss them already. Maybe I should bring them back in. My chick days went by too fast!
Note: my chicken cam goes into night vision when there is not too much light so unfortunately, at times there is not too much color...

I was thinking of getting one of these. Anyone have any thoughts? It says ready to use, but would I need a water pressure valve or do I just turn my hose faucet down lower? Thanks for any imput.
Does anyone have any pictures of their Easter Egger chicks and what they end up looking like full grown? I would love to find out what my new chicks will end up looking like. I have one that is a chipmunk color, one that is chocolate brown and one that is yellow with a few spots on her back...
Here is my Chicken Cam link to my cute little chicks. They arrived today healthy and happy for Meyer Hatchery. Thanks Meyer!

Enjoy!
I am anxiously waiting for my chicks from Meyer like a nervous mother hen. I now even have a tracking number but it doesn't show anything yet. Hope they arrive safely!
Could someone give me some good advice on what I should purchase to set up a chicken cam in the coop and what to do to post the views on line?
I have new chicks under my silkie mom and would love to view them on my computer and share the experience with my family and friends.
Thanks!
I have 1 Silkie hen that is losing feathers on her head only. She looks worse everyday. I treated for lice/mites twice recently with poultry powder but she is still losing feathers. I am not seeing anymore lice or mites. I have 4 chickens in all ( 2 golden comets and 1 silkie roo) and the...
My chickens love it when I throw a cob of corn in their pen husk and all. I takes them a bit to get the husk off and gives them something to do. Can I freeze a bunch of corn right in their husk? Use freezer bags? Will that work?
Thanks!
Can anyone tell me how long the beetle stage of the mealworm cycle lasts. They are creeping me out. Eeww! Oh so many and they make a creepy noise too. Oh what we go through for our fuzzy butts.
After reading about mealworms on this site, I thought I would give it a try and start raising meal worms for my chickens. Right now I have TONS of beetles of different colors. (Icky, what was I thinking, I don't even like bugs) Anyway, I think I am just a bit confused as to when and why I...
I posted this on a different thread, but I don't want to hyjack that thread so I'll post it here and see what you all think.
My 2 Golden Comets are 22 weeks old. Most days I will have just 1 perfect egg along with 1 egg that is soft mush. Often I will find one on the dropping board with either...
I have two 19 week old Golden Comet girls and 1 Silkie hen that is supposed to be laying. I am getting 1 egg every day like clock work. When should I expect more? I am still wondering and waiting to see if both Comets are laying. Are they still too young to get eggs everyday? All the eggs...
My first mini eggs from my Golden Comets. I am so excited! Aren't they cute? Mini eggs in a mini basket.

We are having electricity installed in the coop this week and I need to make a final decision on the layout. It has changed around a few times as they have grown. Now that they are big, my Golden Comets love to perch up high. I now have the only roost in front of the window. I have heard...
I have welded wire surrounding our run and the outskirts to prevent diggers, and the top it covered with deer netting to keep the hawks away. I close my coop up at night but yesterday afternoon we left and came home after 9:00 pm. I kept thinking what if something climbed up and chewed through...
