    Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Hello everyone, I would like to take a moment from your regularly scheduled conversations. Haha. First a little about me, I'm a college student that lives about an hour away from Pittsburgh. And that's about it really. Now here's a question for you all. Would anyone be interested in a...

    My Button Quail is sick?!

Unfortunately, no more help is needed. He is gone. The more I think about it the more I'm positive he died of old age, and there isn't anything you can do about that. As I mentioned before I don't know how old he was when I got him, and everything just happened so rapidly. Yesterday he was...

    ClucksnDucks11s joke thread

Haha! I'm glad you think so, and I will certainly tell another one. Two men walk into a bar. The third man ducks.

    My Button Quail is sick?!

Alright, thank you again. Hopefully I'll have better news by this evening, or at the very least something even more helpful.

    My Button Quail is sick?!

Thank you for the quick reply! I did look into the things you asked me too. At the moment he isn't eating. I tried putting millet in front of him (as that is his favorite treat), but he wasn't interested in it at all. Actually, he didn't seem interested in anything. New update: he's very weak...

    ClucksnDucks11s joke thread

Did you hear the joke about the pencil? ....Never mind. It's pointless.

    My Button Quail is sick?!

Oh, I should also mention that this came about very quickly. While by the end of the day he was acting like this, earlier in the day he had been quite awake and alert.

    My Button Quail is sick?!

At least, I'm more than positive that he is. I knew something was wrong last night when I went to say goodnight to him. It was dark, so I couldn't see very well, but I could tell he wasn't in his usual corner. Today when I see him, he's sitting towards the middle of his cage. He's all puffed...

    Help with nighttime noises?

So, it seems like I won't be able to buy off of the woman I was talking to via email. She had an ad on Craigslist saying that she was selling. However, every time I brought up wanting to buy a female off of her (even after she said she had a few females to sell), she would just ignore my...

    Help with nighttime noises?

Hello GrandmaBird. My location? I live in PA, near Pittsburgh, so it is winter here where I am. I've already checked the local pet stores and none of them have any. I have done other checking around, and managed to find someone nearby that sometimes sells button quail. I'm talking to her now...

    Help with nighttime noises?

Thank you. Even if I do get him a new mate, I think I'll still try that as I still do want him to be not so anxious around me. Also your Skeebie is adorable! I'm sorry to hear that she passed away though, even if it was 4 years ago.

    Help with nighttime noises?

Oh my. Hopefully there is someone nearby that sells quail. Like I said, I don't want to have a bird shipped in this cold... If I can't find one, do you really think I take the place of a mate? If so, what would be the best way to go about doing that? I've tried to make him not so skittish...

    Help with nighttime noises?

Thank you for the suggestions! Turns out, he's no longer just calling at night. I'm hearing him during the day now too, though covering the cage does seem like it's helping a little bit. Also, he doesn't have a mate anymore. I had bought him in a pair, and the female arrived sick, only to die...

    Help with nighttime noises?

So, I've had my button quail for a little over two months now. He's been fairly quiet, but recently that's changed. It seems that at night he has started pacing and even jumping a little. He's also started letting out a call that sounds like a single "pew". Naturally the first thing I did was...

    Button Quail?

Well, I finally got my quail. I must say, they're cute in pictures, and even cuter in real life! I'm suddenly very nervous though. This is my first time keeping quail and, while I've done a lot of reading, I'm still scared of doing something wrong.

    Button Quail?

Thanks for the replies. I definitely will grind the feed as the pieces look a little large for adults let alone chicks. I also have dried mealworms to give them as a bit of a protein supplement.

    Button Quail?

Unfortunately, I still don't have my quail (it's looking like I may have to wait until next month by this point), but now I have another question. Can adult button quail be fed chick starter? Specifically, this is what I'm looking to get...

    Button Quail?

I don't think it's confusing at all, and I really do appreciate all the information. I had no idea that button quail enjoyed fruit! I actually did manage to find someone reasonably close that is selling button quail, so I'm hoping to be able to have a pair by as early as next week! I'll...
