I'm wanting to sell meat birds this year but I would like to know how you all go about it. How do you take preorders? Do you have people put down a deposit? If so, how much? I don't want to take orders and then be stuck with a bunch of meat (which we could use, but I want to make sure I don't...
Thanks everyone for your replies! I ended up taking a bowl of warm water and holding chick by the head and submerging him (I had a space heater going right next to the bowl to keep him/her warm). I had to leave him in there for quite a while and the crust still wasn't loosening, so I stuck a bit...
I'm sorry if this has been addressed before, I don't want to waste any time searching so I can get fixing this poor thing. I had a chick hatch last night/this morning, and he is completely crusty. He was in the incubator just a chirping away, so I went to check on him.....his eyes are cemented...
I put 4 muscovy duck eggs and 2 cuckoo maran eggs in the incubator on 9/11. As of a few days ago there were 3 duck eggs and 1 chicken egg with veining. Yesterday when I candled, I noticed a very dense and largish looking mass inside the one duck egg that didn't have veining. It looked like what...
Hi:) Can you tell me what the shipping would be to 48054 for 4 muscovy and 2 cuckoo marans? Thanks! (also pm'ing you in case you forget to check back here;))
Oh wow, yeah that is quite a difference in the roo coloring. Thanks everyone, I can't wait until they start laying now (I've gotten two eggs from my EEs but none from these gals and they were hatched the same day)
These were all supposed to be silkies (we hatched from eggs) but one is most definitely not a silkie (right?). I contacted the seller and she said it was possible that a cochin got mixed in there. So is this a silkie/cochin? Or just a cochin? I've never really seen a cochin so I don't have much...
I ordered two hens and got four. I'm assuming they usually send males as the packing peanuts, so who is who? Or could I have lucked out and gotten four pullets?
I have them labeled by colors as I have zip ties around their legs so I can tell them apart. They were hatched 3/11 so they're around...
DH went to process one of the chickens (he's done about 12 so far) and the breast is really red, like it didn't completely bleed out or something- even though he did everything the same. Is this okay to eat, or should he not even bother processing it?

Unfortunately only 3 out of 4 hatched (I haven't uploaded the "birth" video for the other one(s), I'm not sure what kind of footage the Mr. got, I was at yoga while they hatched ). I did end up opening the fourth eggs and got some really great photos- I mean, as great as photos of an...
I have video up on my blog (not able to imbed the video here unfortunately) that the Mr. took yesterday while our Silkies hatched. Thought someone might want to see it

I'm pretty much the clumsiest person ever, so my husband was right there helping me every time we candled:lol: Good luck with your hatch!
