    What am I?

I allowed the kids some free will at tsc three weeks ago and I’m not actually sure what breeds we got. This one especially worries me because it’s huge and I’m afraid a broiler got chosen by the guy by mistake rather than what we’d told him.

Would love ideas on how to make my dd’s 18th quarantine bday better!

This girl turns 18 in a few weeks. She’s going to miss her prom. Her high school/early college graduation. And her 18th birthday. She’s crushed. It was supposed to be such a special year. Now she can’t even see her friends that day. It’s “no big deal” in the grand scheme of things, but it sure...

It’s been a while, but I’m jumping back on the wagon...

It’s been a LONG time since I’ve hatched or even had chickens, but today we picked up six chicks and I just set this lovelies. Here’s hoping I remember how to do this! These are buff and lavender orpingtons. Excited!

Looking to hatch and release bob white quail. Any experience/input?

Has anyone here done this and, if so, would you care to share your experiences or input? Does hatching them yourself or purchasing them already hatched work best? Approximately how long does it take to raise them from hatched to released and how much work/effort is involved, timewise and...

Zebra finches, breeding, fertile eggs, etc.

I got 6 zebra finches off of Craigslist and one off of a local yard sale site. They were in a small'ish cage so I bought a very large one. One of the "zebra finches" was actually a green singer who was gorgeous, but very territorial and would barely let any of the other birds roost or do much of...

Need opinions on this silkie - boy or girl?

It's so weird. The crest is off, the "streamers" go off the sides and really don't look like streamers. The tail feathers look like a roo and it's got a small comb and wattles. My gut says roo. It never crows, but it might just not be a dominant roo. It's about 6 months old. Here...

I received 18 eggs from Glenn See (blue) and 20 from Kathy Leininger (black). I cracked one when I was marking it with the initials so will be starting 37. They arrived in great shape so I am hoping that they do well. :-) Will update as it goes on. :-)

Silkies, final gender determination please! (Hopefully)

Okay, I'll tell you what I think they are and you can give me an idea on what you think. Looking them over today and taking pics, I'm not real thrilled with how they've changed/turned out. I think I'm going to be downsizing even more and maybe bringing a few better quality ones in for breeders...

    What is a "reverse" silkie?

I have never heard of it before, but there's an auction on eggbid for them right now. I won't say what it looks like to me, but hoping someone can explain what it means. That's a new one for me!

Good Yahoo! groups for chickens, hatching addicts, etc.?

I hope this is allowed. Are you a member of a yahoo! group that you enjoy and get a lot out of? I am looking for one in particular that used to be around (hatchaholics), but can no longer find it. Would love to find something similar.

Could I get opinions on incubators?

I am incubator-less right now so am looking to get a new one. I have explained it to hubby that I cannot sell eggs from my silkies (once they start laying) without being able to check that they eggs are fertile. And he bought it. (Okay, it's true, but obviously not my only reason for it.) I do...

    Jersey woolie baby bunny pics

We started with 6 in one litter and are left with two. Had a new cage and they crawled out of the hutch when too young and four perished. :-( We have these two cuties left, though. Mama is REW and daddy is grayish (I cannot remember the correct name for his color and do not have his pedigree...
