    Madigin Roo?

Awesome input! Thank you everyone. Educated guesses is all I was really looking for lol i know it can be very difficult to distinguish with chicken "mutts". He really is a pretty bird though. I try to pick up tail feathers as he loses them. They make good shop decorations.

    Madigin Roo?

Hello all, I'm looking to find the breed of bird I have. Inherited him when we bought a new house. Went on Craigslist to research people who wanted a rooster (He's a bully and I don't have enough hens for 2 roosters) and found he may be a rare type of bird. Any input? I think he may be a Madigin...

    Open coop?

I let them out about 2pm because I tend to go to work at 3-4 am and it seems a little early for them to be out making noise lol I may start letting them out when I leave for work though. Seems to be my best bet

    Open coop?

Does anyone leave their coop open 24 hrs a day? I've been closing em in about 7pm or whenever they go in to roost. I let them out about 2pm and spread scratch around to pick at for the evening. It is winter here and not light out for too long. They'll be out longer in summer but I'm just...

    Nest boxes for new layers

Any opinions on nest box dimensions? I have 3 new girls a few months old. They have a super cozy new coop and a 44sq ft run.

    Coop heating in winter

I just simply mounted a "comfortable warmth" bulb in the highest back corner and leave it on all the time. It's low wattage and keeps the coop about 55-60 degrees plus

    Newbie. How am I doing?

Yes! That's what it was actually. Not so much that it was really bad for them more so that it may contain GMOs making for a not fully natural grow. Thanks for the info! Ill check the site out. Gonna get started on the new coop here in about 20 minutes

    Newbie. How am I doing?

Yeah I've heard that a scratch is also important. I wouldn't mind finding a natural scratch like that. Ill look into it. I've heard corn isn't good for them? Any reason why? I've seen multiple people thrown corn cobs in a coop and the girls love it. As far as space goes I have a 1/4 acre fenced...

    Newbie. How am I doing?

I'm very new at growing chickens. Although I am an animal enthusiast, so I feel as if I did all the proper research and put the right work into them so far, I would like to hear some feedback as well. I bought 3 little girls (that I know of so far, the co-op only has an 85% promise of female so...
