    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hi All, I sure hope everyone has been surviving the weather. I think of how cold I am and wonder how everyone's chickens are doing. I haven't been keeping up with the reading so I don't know if there were many chickens that moved into garages! Although I think it would be fun and I love pets...

Mandy, thanks for your long post! It was very helpful! I guess I am surprised that something would survive a bleach bath but I guess nooks and crannies would be a problem. Others? What are your thoughts on used? The used coop is only a year old I can't remember if it was painted inside.

I planned on getting chicks in March mainly because I have a coop to build. Well, I found a used coop I think I'll buy. SO all I need now are the chicks! Since I am in education, I have three weeks to be at home over Christmas and that would be a GREAT time to hang out with the cuties. We...

Newbie Questions 1) leaves and grass--I read that several people collected up leaves and yard clippings in multiple bags (even from the neighborhood). interesting. Is that for using as "litter" or laying on top of the snow in the run? What precautions do you need to take? Wouldn't the leaves...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I am enjoying myself with the Murry McMurry catalogue. Ok, so I am very new. I didn't know chickens had feathered legs! Does that mean they might carry more dirt/poo on them? Is it significant? of course I am playing with the "chick selector"... I live in West Lafayette--What type of "cold...

WOW! Thanks for posting that coop! I sent an email hoping it was still availble but haven't heard back yet. I'll keep watching craigslist! Funny--I did email the people I knew in the neighborhood where I saw the chicken resting and then crossing the road. I explained that I wanted to talk to...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I am a "wanna be" backyard chicken farmer in West Lafayette. I have been reading and dreaming. I saw this book recommended and I bought it. It is my life! I am in the drawing stages of a coop for spring. I am thoroughly enjoying it and wish I were reading it slower. The illustrations really add...
