Yes, thank you. I now realize the heat light is to keep their WATER from freezing, not the birds! I searched and found a wonderful heated water dish plan today, and only had to buy ONE thing: the light bulb receptacle. I had everything else, even the 12x12 cinderblocks! I really am going...
I just finished my new water heater... What a HUGE time-saver it will be for me! I live alone, and this one chore was almost enough to make me reconsider raising chickens in the winter months. (It's SO much work and it's SO COLD!) No fun ... Just NO fun !

Not my first time, but these girls are new this winter. I have a red heat lamp, and am continually going out to make sure they are not too warm. The coupe is about 4'6" high, and .........maybe 4' wide. They have been sleeping on the top floor on rails, and now that the light is in there...

If the light is inside the coupe (about 5x5x5) will they be able to get 'far enough away' from it so as not to .....suffocate?

Sorry, I doubt you will be able to 'butcher' any of your babies. They will see you coming, and you will not be able to get that picture out of your head.
