    Introducing new chicks.

Thanks Sylvia. We had bought 5 but one of the three Roos we ended up with died. They were playing one minute and the next one little guy was dead. We figured he must of broken his neck cause they were all flying around in the run of the big coop while the big girls were up in the enclosed...

    Introducing new chicks.

We bought the new chicks when they were about a week old, they've been in the house since with the heat lamp, but now pretty much have all or most of their feathers and are running out of room. Lol. So not sure if I would still have to quarantine them.

    Introducing new chicks.

Need a bit of advice on what's the best course in introducing new chicks with my 3 big girls. Have two young roosters and two hens they are about 8 weeks old. Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

Thanks. If that's the case not sure what we are going to do. Have three big hens outside, will keep at least the biggest of the Roos but not sure what we'll do with any of the other Roos.

Figured the first two Sussex were males and the third a girl, but we thought both rir were females. Yikes if their not.

    New baby chicks

A few weeks ago we bought five new baby chicks to increase our "flock" of three to eight. They were straight sex so didn't know what we were getting. We knew that we wanted a rooster so that's why we bought 5. We're pretty sure we have one maybe even two roosters. The first three are...

    New baby chicks.

Hi. Have a question about baby chicks we bought 5 to go with our three big chicks, now this may seem like a silly question, but I have one baby chick that seems to have poo stuck to her bottom, shes pooping fine otherwise it seems. Have tried taking a warm wet cloth to it sort of worked but...

    Any ideas for gender?

    Chickens started laying.

Thanks for the ideas. We have left the balls in the boxes. Three boxes, three hens and they are easy to get to. My daughter found an egg in on box today after school and when I came home from work, found another egg in the nesting box. So hopefully that once was a fluke. :). My oldest had...

    Chickens started laying.

Hi everyone, just had a question. Our chickens just started laying their first eggs over the last few days, but I don't believe they are using their laying boxes. Did the whole ping pong ball and gulf ball thing but they are laying in a corner of their coop. Any ideas as to how to get them to...

    Chickens not started laying yet

The chicks that we have we're hatched on 06/14/2013 (makes them 24 weeks old) still no eggs. Have tried the Ping pong ball and golf ball trick. The play with the Ping pong balls, and took the straw out of the laying boxes. Having read a few threads I see that a few others are having the same...

    Any ideas for gender?

I'll try to get some clearer ones later today. But that would explain why willow isn't crowing. We were told before that the gray one was a boy.

    Any ideas for gender?

Our daughters class hatched a bunch of eggs as a class project last year. We took three of them. The gray is willow, the back one is brownie and the redish/brown I'd pancake. ( kids school named them). Lol they haven't started laying yet, they are about 5 months old so not sure if all boys...
