They were hatched sometime early march or late feb.
The Americauna behind him has started crowing, so that one is definitely a roo. It seems young but it was a tiny croak. I must have really poor luck if this wyn is a roo too, none of these were straight runs.
I recently moved to Des Moines, WA from seattle and I learned the law here is crazy inaccessible. Only rich folks with tons of money and landland w be able to make it work. Something like 20k square foot requirements?!? It's insanely prohibitive compared to neighboring towns. Many of my...
Hi from Des Moines, WA! I have two hens and 5 chicks! I have been a member for 5 years but I have never introduced myself. apparently they have any chickens on my tiny lot here is illegal, but no one seems to bother us. Our town has pretty dated laws and only allows hens on lots over 20,000 feet...
I have not. I tried sulfur cream/rinse with no luck, so I'm thinking the culprit may indeed simply be cannibalism. :( We're going to try building a better coop this fall and give them more feeders/space
They don't move and they seem to have been there before I sprayed. I think previous comment was correct that they are simply fly specks. Still doesn't resolve what I suspect is depluming scabies, and DE won't have any effect on that. Again, I don't use DE, I have tried and found it completely...

I have never had any luck with DE and I don't use it anymore. Seems to work until you actually get parasites. Furthermore it can cause respiratory issues, so it's not necessarily safe.
I'm starting to get super frustrated as this issue is one I feel I have been battling for over a year and nothing has been effective.
Two of my hens have bald patches with crusty skin, one on her neck and the other on her belly. I determined it was not cannibalism after lots of careful...
Gave her a warm soak on her bum for a few minutes, blowdryed, then lubed her up with some petroleum jelly. I sure hope it helps. Might be worth noting that she just broke her first brood. :( I'm keeping her isolated for now. Should I fast her and try to discourage laying?
I just treated all my chickens for lice, and I haven't seen any on them or evidence of mites in the coop since then. She has actually been the most resilient to lice since she doesn't have a very fluffy bum. She appears to be her normal self otherwise. Today's egg though... there were big chunks...
