After using one of these for a while, any idea how many i would need for 35 hens?

I wish my feed was this cheap!!! I am currently paying $26/50 lb bag of both chick starter and broiler grower. With my 35 hens and 11 CX, I go through a bag of each roughly every 10 days.

new to this as well, but heres my 2 cents; First i would skip the aquariums and go straight to the stock tanks, less moving and hassle of having to maintaining all those aquariums. wow!!!! i am just starting out, but at the feed stores here in Fairbanks I'm paying $25.99 for feed. I have seen layer for around $16, but i wont be feeding that for another several months since my girls are just now a week old.

They had a few down at alaska feed. :)

bought 10 more girls to replace the ones i lost. 5 RIR and 5 Americanas. I also just started a batch of FF using starter crumbles. I will update as soon as i feed it.

Chick update: So far no more casualties. Everyone is spry and doing well.

Does anyone in the Fairbanks area use fermented feed? If so could we meet up sometime and show me how its done?

Yeah, my girls arrived. I even got a few extra. unfortunatly i have lost 9. 5 on arrival, 2 the next day. 1 each the next 2 days. hopefully I'm good now. the worst part is out of 7 red leghorns i ordered 5 have died.

Hi all. I have an opportunity to get a small garden shed that is being built by my local high school construction class. I am planning on using this for my meat bird coop. The only concern i have is that it has cedar siding on it. I know it has been discussed ad nauseum here about cedar shavings...

yeah i was going to go with 2x4s for the perches. Do you use a poop board under the roost? If so how do you like it?

Fairbanks. My girls are due to arrive the first week of March and I hope to have them out into their coop by mid April. Are weather here is really dry. So in their insulated coop im building im not too concerned about frostbite atm.
