    Silkie Roost....

    I may be picking up our first silkie hen this evening. I'll be keeping her in a cage over the weekend but was wondering - since silkies don't fly, do they just sleep in nest boxes/on the ground or do you silkie owners build short-low roosts for them?

    Wheaten or BB Red?

    I wonder if these new lil darlins (Hector & Annabel) are wheaten or bb red.... doesn't matter. We're totally in love. I may get a second hen for Hector today as well as a first Silkie. Work is going to pass slowly! Can't wait!

    22 weeks First Egg/YAY!

    Finally! My red Star, Ruth, laid her first egg on Friday and has laid a nice size brown egg early each day since. I have 12 more young girls who will hopefully follow suit. One of the EEs has been with the roos so maybe the green egg will come soon. YAY! -Lynn
