Update
A few months after taking the pics I posted at the beginning of this thread, my hens had chicks. These two roosters were among the few that were hatched from the same batch. Both will turn two January 1st. One is spangled and the other is blue...they are huge! Just thought I'd share.
Thanks for sharing those drawings, Saladin, they were very helpful. You're right about my hens, their faces are much too narrow to be Asil. They look more like the Shamo drawings. The head of an Aseel is much more round and they have shorter beaks.
He didn't say, SD_Paulo. He was adamant about not crossbreeding and keeping them pure, which is why I bought a few. I'm hoping to buy more so that I can breed them as a hobby. I call the rooster Pattaya, which is what the original owner called him.
Thanks for you input, Saladin. I am aware of the term "Asil" and have read quite a bit about the breed. When I bought these chickens, the owner did mention that they were Asil. He breeds Asil/Shamo. The doubt with me began after reading about the Asil online and getting confused with all...
Howdy! I bought these hens and roosters a few months ago, but I'm not too sure on the breed. They're either Asil or Shamo...or maybe a mix. Can anyone help me identify them based on my pics? They are almost a year old...all of my hens are currently laying on eggs. Thanks!
I bought a few hens and roosters from a local seller. Based on what I've read, these can be Asil or Shamo....how can I tell the difference? Three of my hens are currently broody so I'm really looking forward to these chicks. Thanks!
