Anyone have an opinion on if these are pullets or roos? They are supposed to be SFH but I have been hoodwinked before! They will be 5 weeks old on Saturday.
#1 White/Brown - acts like a roo always strutting around and wanting to chest bump all the others.
#2 Black - pic below shows #2...
Anyone need a 7 week welsummer roo? He is free for the taking and currently resides in the Ashville area. He needs to depart to make room for the three week old batch currently residing in the garage. Darn chicken math!!
I wish you luck! I have one more that pipped and it is peeping quite a bit. The rest seem to be happy staying where they are at. Just hoping for the best!
I had a chick hatch on its own, one day early, then it died about 15 minutes later. Any ideas why? Should I be concerned about the other 7 in the incubator? It didn't seem to have trouble hatching and the inside of the egg was relatively clean......some pink tinges but everything seemed to...
Anyone local (Ashville area in Pickaway County) have any extra hatching eggs they want to sell? Would love to have a variety with Speckled Sussex and Welsummer at the top of the list but am also on the lookout for Barnevelder, Gold Laced Wyandotte and/or dark olive eggers. I have a Brinsea...
Thanks for the replies everyone. I am happy to report that she seems back to her usual self this morning! Eyes are wide open and she is eating/drinking and having her morning conversation with me!
My computer doesn't seem to be reloading! Thanks cafarmgirl and Fancychooklady. Would you start the Corid if she seems to be doing better and do you have a recommended dosage? I am confused as the bottle gives directions for cattle.
Thank you so much for responding Eggcessive! I was at Tractor Supply earlier today and was overwhelmed with what I should purchase to help her. I went back after reading your response only to find out they didn't carry any of it. Luckily Rural King is right next door and they had both...
Anyone have any advise?
English Orpington is lethargic with eyes closed. This morning when I let them out everything seemed to be fine. I was cleaning around the coop and noticed she had one eye closed but was still moving around like normal. About an hour later, I saw her laying down with...
Here are photos if anyone is interested. My 5 year old son is trying to convince me that his favorite (the light susex) is really just a hen with a big comb! I have been trying to explain to him why we cannot keep 6 roosters in our little flock so he told me that next year we should just get...
Anyone in need of any roosters? Free to anyone who wants to add them to their flock otherwise they are heading to freezer camp. All are large fowl although the ameraucanas seem to be small/progressing slowly. Located in Pickaway County. I can send pictures if anyone is interested.

I bought lavender ameraucana eggs from a breeder and hatched five out. They will be 6 weeks on Wednesday. One of them is much lighter, almost white. I am wondering if anyone can tell me 1) Do these appear to be true lavender ameraucanas? 2) What would cause the one to be such light...
I hatched this one out and it is supposed to be a silvered pencil rock. I couldn't find many pictures of silver penciled rocks at this age but it doesn't really look like one to me. It is 7 weeks old. Can anyone tell me if it is a silver penciled rock or, if not, what it might be? Thanks
I have no idea. I bought a dozen eggs from a breeder (Supposedly 4 different breeds) and the one this hatched from was marked as an English Orpington! I was wondering why it had feathered feet when the other one that hatched didn't. Now I know!
