GOOSE BREEDING THREAD - for breeding, incubating, hatching and rearing.

Hey there, I haven't been around for a while and the goose I hatched when I first came on here is now 3 months old. Still don't know if it's a she or he or what it is. I'm convinced the guy who sold me the eggs was lying since it doesn't look like any of the breeds he said he has. Any ideas now...

GOOSE BREEDING THREAD - for breeding, incubating, hatching and rearing.

I did! I used a little giant but it died mid way through the hatch. Luckily had a hova ready and moved them over. Didn't use a turner, just set alarms on my phone and moved them 3 times a day. All but 1 hatched, and when we opened it up it was backwards in the egg. The guide they have on here is...

GOOSE BREEDING THREAD - for breeding, incubating, hatching and rearing.

This is the main guide I used and ended up losing only one egg, and I'm pretty sure it just wasn't fertile to begin with. Great guide! Those last 2 are sooooo cute!!!!

    Angel Wing? Slipped? Normal Growth?

She spends about 5 hours outdoors, and have been giving her fodder from red wheat, barley, and oats, and a ton of store bought kale, romaine, turnip greens, and others I find at the grocery. I've read tons about raising geese indoors successfully and I'll do whatever it takes to make her as...

    Angel Wing? Slipped? Normal Growth?

Ok, I'll stop freaking out then lol Thank you. When I saw them flopping outwards like that I about went to the store for bandages. I know it can be fixed if caught early enough so didn't want to risk it.

    Angel Wing? Slipped? Normal Growth?

Xylophone will be 5 weeks old tomorrow and her wing feathers are just coming in. I noticed yesterday that she wasn't folding them under. They are still in the plastic feeling casing. This is my first goose experience so I don't know what's normal. Does this look normal or should I be wrapping it...

GOOSE BREEDING THREAD - for breeding, incubating, hatching and rearing.

Will the feathers change again when my goose molts? She's got some pretty patterns coming in but Im wondering if it's going to stay that way. The fodder set up is going nicely. Taking a little longer than expected to grow, but I'm staggering the trays so they come available at different times. I...

GOOSE BREEDING THREAD - for breeding, incubating, hatching and rearing.

Not entirely, no. More than 1 person has said it looks like a boy too. We successfully sexed 5 boys from all the eggs we hatched. Saw the little worm penis no problem. We sexed this one 3-4 times and didn't see anything. So until I can get her DNA tested or some other certain tell comes through...

GOOSE BREEDING THREAD - for breeding, incubating, hatching and rearing.

Congrats! Can't wait to see the new little babies :) She'll be 4 weeks on the 1st... Hoping the growth spurt slows down lol Super excited to see how she turns out! I was worried about the noise if she was Chinese before, but not anymore... Could deal with honking no problem, she's my doll.

GOOSE BREEDING THREAD - for breeding, incubating, hatching and rearing.

Thank you Seminole! Harper, the guy I got the eggs from swears he has 4 breeds in free range. Pilgrim, Chinese, Sebastepol, and Embden. She's gigantic. I mean a good solid bit bigger than anything we hatched from the guy, even ones we know were boys cause we saw a penis and hatched the same day...

GOOSE BREEDING THREAD - for breeding, incubating, hatching and rearing.

Hey guys, my little baby isn't such a baby anymore! She's starting to feather and is the best pet ever! Can't wait to get her into the big diapers though. She's growing too fast for any of the baby ones. I've given up trying to guess what she's a mix of... All I know is that she's smart and...

GOOSE BREEDING THREAD - for breeding, incubating, hatching and rearing.

We've been giving them grit since the first day we started giving them greens. If she shows any issue that's exactly where she's heading! I'm really thinking she's just a little piggy and I'm an overly worried goose mom though. I started looking up fowls with full crops and it looks and sounds...

GOOSE BREEDING THREAD - for breeding, incubating, hatching and rearing.

She cant when it swells. I'm really starting to think it's just her being a little piggy. She's filling so dang much that it's pushing what would be our trachea to the side. That's what's causing her neck to look and feel screwed like a pig tail. Here we were thinking she was sick.. Well, she's...

GOOSE BREEDING THREAD - for breeding, incubating, hatching and rearing.

It's really hard to get a picture or video that actually shows the curve and lump of her neck... The chest swells and puffs out to the left, and her neck curves like in a cork screw and bends to the right. It's a movable mass like lump. Doesn't seem to hurt. The neck part feels like our necks...
