my hybrid hen has been moulting for a while and stopped laying...how long will this go on for...and is there anything i can give her to help her to start to lay again
i live in the uk and also have bantams and we have colder winters and my lot just do fine...maybe i'll put some extra bedding in the coop appart from that they survive ok
we looking forward to our summer which starts next month...hope its not a wet one like last year
Could someone tell me if this is normal for my broody hen to go and roost up in the main coop with my only hybrid hen leaving her 4 week old chicks to sleep on their own on the ground floor in their own little temparay coop
and she has also started to lay eggs after 4 weeks having hatch her...
What to you think...my three bantam chicksQ..if one of them is a cockeral and i decide to keep him...would he eventually mate with his sisters and mother, and if so, does that make a difference if they decide to hatch eggs in the future

we also found a big fat rat in my chicken run..luckily i had my whippets with...just put one of the dogs in and she done want needed tobe done..very quick..havent seen one since...but unfortually the day after, while my hens were out in the garden my whippet killed one of them..maybe she...
i would like to know aswell...i tried to do the feather test when they were a few days old and i think that suggests that i have three girls BUT im not sure...soon find out sooner or later...or good fun watching them grow and develop
My chicks are two weeks old and mother hen is doing a fab job bringing them up...i let them out in the garden as its been nice and sunny...i could watch them all day...especially when they have a worm and even daddy roo gets in the act...
i still dont know wheather ive got male or...
i have three chicks and one of them was hatched two days later to others...and he/she is slightly smaller...were the other two get to the food first the smaller ones just takes its time...he/she always wants to get under the mums feathers first...but all seem to be doing well, so im letting...
oh i just love my new chicks...im always out checking them as the hen is doing a good job bring them up, so im letting her get on with it

My three ikkle chicks are nearly two weeks old...and one of them is already showing signs of getting tail feathers...does this mean its going to be female or male or doesnt it matter at this stage
they move soo quickly and i can never can take a good pic..or they stay close to their mummy
thought i'll introduce Simba our little palomino pony on loan for my 6 year old son 'Bradley' , hes the youngest of the three boys at the yard where i keep him

could someone tell be if theres a difference between pekin and cochin banatams as ive got a black broody with b/w chciks and a lavender roo, with all feathery feet...they do look like some of the pictures on here

just a pic of one of my bantam chciks which i took last week...cant believe that they are a week old already...well two of them are, the third came two days later...atm they are Teeny,Weeny and Beany
and this is my lavender Roo...its a shame that there weren't any lavender chicks...maybe nxt time
