Morning friends!
Is anyone looking for a bird today? No specifics but I just got an email at work that the wichita postal plant got a bird in with no label, nothing to identify it in any way. Probably express mail but now has no label.
If anyone is missing one or shipped one, pm me so we can...

DH said no more chicks in the basement - how many times have we heard that one? I had to have something outside and get them out there as soon as they are dry.
I put this together from playpen panels and hardware cloth - with the brooder box at one end. The whole thing is inside an unused dog...

Stormtrooper and Rex have to go. The neighbors finally complained. I can transport them, within an hour or two of southeast Kansas, this weekend perhaps. Please PM me if you are interested.

I'm pretty sure that the three partridge rocks we hatched earlier this spring have turned out to be two roos and one little hen:
We'd like to incubate a few more when they are old enough for the one to be laying, but I don't want to end up with rock/bo crosses, and we already have two...
Gracie, one of my year-old BO's, was badly injured couple weeks ago. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=309449
We have been treating her with advice and remedies from our homeopath, and she seems to be doing well. She is more vocal now, and is laying sporadically again, but...
We have 3 little partridge rocks (along with a few meal worms), three weeks old, and a cricket or two - anybody else?
My grandsons had naming privileges for our first ever hatch .... guess the force is with us!
We think a dog must have gotten in our yard a week ago Friday. Rosie was gone, but I found Gracie, badly injured, in the compost pile. Her back was pretty well ripped up:
After a week of homeopathic treatment, both internal and external, she is beating the odds:
My daughter is making aprons...
While injured Gracie recuperates at grandma's, Nellie hangs out with my grandson, Kale. They both enjoyed a bit of sunshine this afternoon. We are SO ready for spring!
The other animals won't go past her when Nellie is around. Today she decided she wanted to visit the kitchen, so Tazz (pom) and Cosmo (calico cat) had to wait their turn to come in.
I'm Tammy's daughter- Sytera. She is at work and needs me to ask this.
Her hens were attacked early last night. One survived, one is dead and my grandma is trying to save the other. She is very badly injured on her back and underside- no bowels falling out. Wounds are starting to dry and my...
We are trying our first hatch with a little Brinsea Mini-advance. It has counted down to day 4(seems backwards but oh well). 3 of the 6 eggs are wiggling already. I had planned to do one more candling (I'm pretty sure 2 are clear, but didn't want to throw them out too early) and stop the auto...
Are there not that many breeders of the partridge rock out there? I have done repeated searches here and on the net, but haven't found a source for hatching eggs for this beautiful bird. Is there a reason for that? I just find it to be particularly pleasing, but maybe I'm missing something ...
