Leghorn laid first egg 2 weeks ago - nothing at all since?

Nope she's happy as, my friendliest chook. Always comes up to see what I'm doing when I'm in the run and clucks around happily. Isn't low in the pecking order or being bullied by anyone. I just hope its nothing bad, I don't know much about chickens but I know they can get egg bound or not...

Leghorn laid first egg 2 weeks ago - nothing at all since?

Yes we don't have the space for them to free range - we live in the city and most of our outside area is all paved but we had an area of dirt so we kept that for the chooks. They seem pretty happy and do have more than the recommended space, still. All other hens are laying except for one...

Leghorn laid first egg 2 weeks ago - nothing at all since?

No, they don't free range and only have a couple of spots to lay and I check them all daily. They get an organic meat and soy free layer mash (still has same protein content etc of the ones with meat or fish meal), scraps and as much grass as they want (I planted grass in a garden bed in the run...

Leghorn laid first egg 2 weeks ago - nothing at all since?

They are meant to be very, very good layers. They are the ones America uses for their battery hens I believe. We are in summer and getting about 14 hours of light per day, I'm guessing

Dog bowls for feeders and waterers?

I have 6 and just use a big plastic container for water in the corner of their run which I dump out and fill up daily. It never gets even close to empty though I just change it so it's fresh. I wouldn't think 5 chickens would be very hard to feed and water at all. I've never really thought about...

Leghorn laid first egg 2 weeks ago - nothing at all since?

I have a white leghorn (egg laying hybrid breed I'm guessing - not to chicken-breed savvy yet sorry), I bought her as a POL and she already had a big red comb etc. She laid her first egg about 3 days after bringing her home, but it has now been over two weeks and she hasn't laid a single egg...

    Hello from Australia!

Thank you for the welcome! Very interested in your signature (vegan) I to am (well, was) vegan until I got chickens - I'm happy to eat their eggs since I know how they are produced :). Do you not eat any eggs at all even with 22 chickens??

I can't wait to move out of the city, but that will have to wait until I graduate :(

Which of these two chickens should I get??

They aren't expensive - per say - but they are more than your average laying hybrids and, being a uni student studying to be a vet, I am preeeeeetty broke at times!

Which of these two chickens should I get??

Unfortunately I can't afford two fancy pullets right now, and I also don't want to build my flock up too quickly with all young pullets now, as I want to be able to add a couple more when the ones I have don't lay as much. I think the maximum I can have in the city here is 6

Which of these two chickens should I get??

Haha I think so? She said it was and I'm sure a breeder would know. Hahah I think I will keep them for myself sorry ;)

Which of these two chickens should I get??

Thanks very much :) I hadn't been told anything about the leg colour, I was just thinking that it may have some effect if the feather colour did - but I guess that doesn't either! Yes she does seem like a nice honest lady - she hasn't said anything about any other breeds being mixed in, I...

Which of these two chickens should I get??

Hi everyone :) I am new here and not sure where to post this so I thought this would be best. I am picking up an Araucana pullet next week. I want one simply because I love their looks and my niece likes to collect the eggs and I thought some blue/green eggs would be fun! I heard that only...

    Hello from Australia!

Hi! I am just getting back into chickens since having them on the farm as a kid. I am finding it to be quite different raising them in the city! I can't wait to learn more about them :). I started with 2 chickens at the start of this month, which has quickly grown to 6 and will be 7 next...
