Thank You for the information. My apologies, I wasn't specific. I don't intend to free range them I just don't like the idea of them being in a tiny cage if they don't have to be. And I don't plan to have them in my mixed flock. I understand that they need to be separate from my chickens and...
I am planning to get my first quail. I have decided to go with a&m unless someone has recommendations for another large breed. I can't bring myself to keep them caged. The rest of our birds have lots of space to roam and forage I'd like to do the same for these birds. How much space per bird...
I am looking to get A&Ms in the New England area. Would prefer chicks but am considering hatching my own as well. I am located in RI but am willing to travel to pick them up. Any Help in finding a breeder is much appreciated!
I will try that then. If they do seem to be the problem can they be reintroduced at some point and if so how would I do that without completely disrupting the girls? These are my first roos so this is all completely new to me.
I have red ranger chicks what do we feed them? Should they start and stay on chick starter like turkeys or be on the same feed schedule as our laying hens? This is our first try at any type of meat bird and we would like to raise them alongside Royal Palm turkeys as long as their feed is the same.

I have hens of laying age that aren't laying and don't know why. I raised 15 chicks to about 12 weeks then sent half to live with my brother and Sister In Law. Theirs are laying away at this point, new girls laying daily, while mine are not producing anything yet. The only difference between...
I went to my coop this morning to find one of your easter eggers dead. Just laying on her back with no signs of trauma. I can't imagine what might have caused this. In the nesting box was an egg from the day prior, she was seemingly healthy. We do have a wasp problem this time of year. If...
I got in two barred rock chicks this year. The hen to the left is obviously one and the black hen in front is supposed to be the other. You can't tell from the photo but her feathers have a slight grey pattern like the barred rocks white pattern. And she has a small tuft that looks like a...
I do want to hatch specific breeds, or at the very least keep track of who is who :P. Keeping them separate will just make that part easier is what I was thinking. All of your advice is very helpful, thanks!
