My chickens kill mice and moles, but not sure if they eat any of them. They do have voracious appetites, so it wouldnt surprise me, sounds nasty though.

My family always raised white leghorns for meat. May have been just because thats what was available.

They just seem so small at 8 weeks. Mine are now 4 months, and they still seem small. Maybe I am expecting too much. My grandma butchered chickens every year and they seemed much bigger. Maybe because I was smaller.

Maybe you should find someone else to do it for you. My husband and I are facing the same dilemma, but I really think that I will be able to do it when the time comes. I pray alot for forgiveness when I clean any fish or animal. I know its silly, but I feel alot better about it after wards.

Nope, i think she is a hen. I have a four month old just like her. She is kinda ugly, but I love her still. :)

Thank you everyone, I found some Aspen shavings at Wal-Mart for now. I put it in the boxes and sprinkled choc mint leaves in. So far they really enjoy it.

Where do u get pine shavings?
