    How to cover metal roost.

In the summer the grapevines grow over the back of the coop and the chickens get treats! :-)

    How to cover metal roost.

The building the coop butts up against is actually the back room of our greenhouse.

    How to cover metal roost.

My chickens' coop is a fence built around an old aluminum shed. It has been insulated with plastic and they had an old wooden baby gate they would roost on. However, since we added EEs to the flock, they've decided they weren't roosting high enough off of the ground, and now everyone is...

    Ordinance Help Fenton MI

Can anyone translate this? I have a large garden and 8 Hens and 1 roo. Am I being told I can have none if I am not zoned Agriculture? I am zoned R3 if that matters. Depending on what your property is zoned, I assume residential, it specifically states under “permitted uses” what that...

I was just wondering if this was a rooster? If it is, does any one have any pictures of what he might look like? Just looking at my own pictures I just laughed because I'm 99% sure he's a Roo

Pecking order 1 month vs 1 year old hens

Update. Today is now day 3. The little newbs stayed in the smaller coop I built for them and the Red Hens showed no interest in them and went out to free range. Day one was like watching Jurassic park Velociraptor style. The coop is a metal shed 8'x9'. and Inside I built two smaller coops...

Pecking order 1 month vs 1 year old hens

Hey I have been doing some reading on here but I'm new to this and I don't want to end up with any injured birds. I am trying to introduce 6, 1 month old Americana's to 3, 1 year old Red Stars. I have one large coop and after the first day I realized that I needed to segregate them. So I...

This sounds like the answer I needed. I should be able to make this work nicely.

    Pine shaving bedding as fertilzer?

Thank you for the response. I have also heard about burning it. It helps to break it down since the chickens droppings are almost to high in nitrogen when fresh. But I wasn't sure if it cuts down the acidity.

    Pine shaving bedding as fertilzer?

And I don't think I will do Hungelkulture at my home but I do have some property that I want to try farming and this looks to be what I need to have that hands off low maintenance crop I am looking for.

    Pine shaving bedding as fertilzer?

Now I don't have time to watch the movie at work but I will. I did read through the description and I am kind of familiar with these methods of gardening. Is it like Lasagna gardening? I guess I'm just concerned about the acid in the pine.

    Pine shaving bedding as fertilzer?

Hey guys, You have always been a huge help. I have a question about my chicken bedding. I maintain a small flock of chickens. I have been using pine shaving as bedding. And I know it's acidic and I was just wondering how I could use it as either a fertilizer or as a growing median. Thank...
