The dark one is the first egg from my Barnevelder girls and the giant is from one of my NH Reds. She lays one like this once or twice a week.

I've got six cute little Barnevelder chicks that are about 18 days old now. I noticed as their wing feathers started coming in that three have a double row of feathers that taper and three have a single straight row. Does that mean I have 3 roos and 3 pullets? The ones with the tapered wing...

Got 6 little chipmunk looking Barnevelders today from Roy (rnau), and they are the cutest little things! He's got some really beautiful birds! Was great meeting Roy and talking with him. Learned a lot and enjoyed the visit. Thanks Roy! Here are a few pics:

I moved my 4 week olds out into the coop over the weekend. Still have a few finishing touches to do, but it's sealed up and safe I think, and plenty warm for them. I'm already seeing combs and wattles (really the line under their chin that will be wattles) turning pink. Is that typical or do I have a bunch of roos? Most of them are large too, but I have 4 small ones, considerably smaller than the rest. What do you think? I'll post some pics later today.

Newby here. These are my two week old babies. They're feathering in nicely and I love the coloring, especially on the redder ones, but are the red sussex? Will they molt again to adult feathers?

I've got chicks coming tomorrow (hopefully!) and I'm wondering since I don't have the electrolyte powder to add to their water if I can use pedialyte and how much to use? Add some to the water or just give them some straight pedialyte?
